Purdue Trustees approve plans for New Baseball Stadium

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue Board of Trustees today approved a contract to build a baseball stadium and make major upgrades to the women’s soccer complex. The projects are part of the Mackey Complex master plan that was approved in May 2007.

The $21 million baseball stadium, to be financed with athletics department funds, could eventually seat up to 2,500 spectators in the first phase of improvements to the Northwest Athletics Complex that includes the adjacent soccer facility. The intercollegiate baseball stadium will replace the existing 1,100-seat Lambert Field, which has been the team’s home since 1965.  Continue reading

LBSU’s Blair Field set for Makeover

Long Beach State is currently looking to renovate Blair Field which has served as the Dirtbags home field since 1958. The stadium received a renovation in 1993 which included new seats, a new roof, new lights for 1.4 million dollars.

The new plans for the stadium is to build a practice infield down the left field line, new modern batting tunnels, and part of the right field wall will be shortened to accommodate a new bullpen. The final piece of the project will be new lights to solve shadows in the gaps and center field during night games. The current estimate on the costs of this project is between 8-12 million. Southern Miss Announces Expansion Plans for Pete Taylor Park

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss baseball program announced an expansion plan for its playing facility, Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field, at its annual preseason banquet Saturday night at the Thad Cochran Center.

The expansion will add 1,358 new seats, including 220 deluxe chairbacks and 1,138 bench seats, as the length of the grandstand will expand beyond the reaches of each dugout. Continue reading

Lafayette starts construction on New Hitting Facility

Construction crews broke ground on Dec. 27 for the Morel Field House, an indoor batting facility that will be used by the Lafayette baseball and softball programs.

The generosity of Don Morel ’79, a former Lafayette pitcher, allowed for the construction of the facility, which is scheduled to be ready for use by the home portion of the 2011 baseball and softball seasons. Continue reading

Renovations Completed at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – Jack Coombs Field, home to Duke University baseball since 1931, has undergone significant upgrades to the playing surface and field layout that were completed over the weekend.

Now covering the entire field is a state-of-the-art synthetic turf installed by AstroTurf. The AstroTurf GameDay Grass 3D60H will allow Duke year-round playability on its home field along with low maintenance and an improved drainage system. Continue reading

Renovations of Olsen Field to Begin

Lamar’s Indoor Practice Facility Complete

StraitBaseballBEAUMONT – The Lamar University baseball team will have a place to hold indoor practices with the completion of the H.D. “Tex” and Emma Strait Baseball Training Facility.

Situated next to Vincent-Beck Stadium on Jim Gilligan Way on the Lamar campus, the 9,600-square-foot complex is state-of-the-art and includes Astroturf flooring, batting nets and 60-square-foot batting cages used by pitchers and hitters for practice drills.
