Canisius extends Mike McRae through 2014 Season

Canisius College director of athletics Bill Maher has announced that baseball coach Mike McRae has signed a contract extension through the 2014 season.

“During his time as head coach, Mike has developed the Canisius College baseball program into exactly that – a program that consistently competes for a conference championship,” Canisius College director of athletics Bill Maher said. “Mike has made this program into one of the most successful in the Northeast region. Hawaii’s Mike Trapasso Signs New Three-Year Contract

HONOLULU – University of Hawai’i baseball coach Mike Trapasso has signed a new three-year contract through the 2014 season, Athletics Director Jim Donovan announced.

“A few years back I asked Mike to focus on winning the WAC and getting our baseball team into the NCAA post-season tournament,” Donovan said. “I’m pleased that Coach Trap has done both – winning the WAC regular season last year and winning the WAC Tournament and going to the NCAA regionals the year before. This is a trend I expect to continue based on the improved local and mainland student-athletes being recruited to be on our baseball team.” Continue reading

SDSU’s Tony Gwynn receives New Three-Year Contract

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State Director of Athletics Jim Sterk has announced that Tony Gwynn has signed a new contract to continue as the Aztecs’ head baseball coach for the next three years.

Gwynn completed his ninth year at the helm of the SDSU program this past season after assuming the head coaching role for the 2002 campaign. During his tenure, he has taken his squads to a regular-season Mountain West Conference title (2004) and a trip to the NCAA Regionals (2009). His teams have finished lower than third in the final league standings only once during his tenure. He was named the conference coach of the year in 2004 after leading the Aztecs to a first-place league finish. Continue reading

FIU Signs Turtle Thomas to Extension

MIAMI – FIU Executive Director of Sports and Entertainment Pete Garcia announced today that Head Baseball Coach Henry “Turtle” Thomas has signed a new contract extension with the University through the 2016 season.

“Over the past four seasons, Turtle Thomas has done a tremendous job in building one of the nation’s top baseball programs,” Garcia said. “It is great to see that he will continue to have that opportunity over the next five years. Clemson’s Jack Leggett Signs Five-Year Contract Extension Through 2016

Clemson, SC – Clemson Baseball Head Coach Jack Leggett signed a new five-year contract, Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips announced on Friday. Leggett, who has served as head coach for 18 seasons (1994-11), signed a contract that will run through the 2016 season. It represents a two-year extension from his previous contract. San Jose State’s Sam Piraro Awarded New 3-Year Contract

San Jose, Calif.—–Sam Piraro, the winningest baseball coach in San Jose State’s 100-plus year history, agreed to a new three-year contract through the 2014 season. Athletics director Tom Bowen made the announcement.

Piraro recently completed his 24th season as the Spartans’ head coach directing the Spartans to a 35-26 overall win-loss record. He ranks 29th nationally among active NCAA Division I baseball coaches with 784 coaching victories. San Jose State has 17 30-win and five additional 40-win seasons since he took over as head coach for his first season in 1987. Continue reading

Texas A&M extends Rob Childress Contract through 2015
