MONROE, La. — After seven-plus seasons at the helm of the ULM baseball program, Warhawk baseball coach Jeff Schexnaider has been relieved of his duties effective today announced ULM Director of Athletics Brian Wickstrom. College Baseball Daily has learned that LIU-Brooklyn head coach Don Maines has resigned as the head coach of the Baseball program. Athletic Director Jon Suarez has taken over the program as the interim head coach.
As a first-year head coach, Wright State’s Greg Lovelady is taking every opportunity to improve his understanding of the game and management of the ballplayers in his care.
It’s Lovelady’s 10th year overall at Wright State, but his first in charge of everything after nine seasons as Rob Cooper’s assistant. His baseball pedigree includes two national championships (1999, 2001) as a player at Miami, a brief pro career in the Florida Marlins minor league system, and three regional appearances with the Raiders (2006, 2009, 2011). FROM CBD NEWS SOURCE Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team rounded out its staff by added Jimmy Van Ostrand as a volunteer coach, head coach Mike Gambino announced on Wednesday afternoon. Van Ostrand brings seven years of international and minor league playing experience to the Eagles.
“It is extremely important to me that we surround our players with high character people who can help them develop on the field and also into quality men off the field. I think Jimmy fits that mold and is a great fit with our staff,” Gambino said. “He is coming off a great playing career and comes to us with extensive experience that our boys will be able to draw from. FROM CBD NEWS SOURCE NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma head baseball coach Pete Hughes has named Jamie Pinzino as the program’s new assistant baseball and pitching coach. Pinzino, a 12-year veteran in the collegiate ranks and seven-year head coach, comes to Norman after a one-year stint as head coach at William & Mary, preceded by one year as an assistant for the Tribe.

Murphy takes over after the resignation of Jamie Pinzino, who was named the pitching coaching at the University of Oklahoma. Murphy spent last season as W&M’s top assistant and recruiting coordinator for the Tribe, serving as the Green and Gold’s hitting coach. Continue reading →

Update #1: College Baseball Daily has learned that Joe Sottolano was let go for “sexual misconduct” according to several sources. It did not involve any current Army students.
College Baseball Daily has learned that Army has fired Joe Sottolano for a “pattern of behavior” according to a press release from the academy. Sottolano had been coaching at West Point since 1992 becoming the head coach in 2000. He has a career record of 391-286-5 in his 13 years as the head coach. Continue reading →
