William and Mary names Brian Murphy as Head Coach

BrianMurphyWILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William and Mary Athletics Director Terry Driscoll announced the promotion of Brian Murphy to head coach of the Tribe baseball program on Tuesday.

Murphy takes over after the resignation of Jamie Pinzino, who was named the pitching coaching at the University of Oklahoma. Murphy spent last season as W&M’s top assistant and recruiting coordinator for the Tribe, serving as the Green and Gold’s hitting coach. Continue reading

Hofstra Adds Three to Coaching Staff

Update #1: College Baseball Daily has learned that Joe Sottolano was let go for “sexual misconduct” according to several sources. It did not involve any current Army students.

College Baseball Daily has learned that Army has fired Joe Sottolano for a “pattern of behavior” according to a press release from the academy. Sottolano had been coaching at West Point since 1992 becoming the head coach in 2000. He has a career record of 391-286-5 in his 13 years as the head coach.  Continue reading

Northeastern to name Mike Glavine as Head Coach after 2014 Season

GlavineCollege Baseball Daily has learned that Northeastern will promote assistant coach Mike Glavine to Head Coach replacing Neil McPhee as head coach at the end of the 2014 season. Glavine has served as an assistant with the Huskies for the last four years serving as the Recruiting Coordinator while working with the infielders and hitters.

The news will be announced tomorrow at 10am during an athletic department press conference.  Continue reading

Penn State names Rob Cooper as Head Coach

Saint Mary’s set to name Eric Valenzuela as Head Coach

“Eric brings a tremendous track record and level of experience that we feel is the perfect foundation to lead our baseball program to the heights we believe it is capable of,” Orr said. “We expect our baseball program to compete and win both on the field and in the classroom and Eric’s teams have been consistent high achievers in both of those areas. Indiana State names Mitch Hannahs as Head Coach

Valpo names Brian Schmack as Head Coach

SchmackBrianValparaiso University director of athletics Mark LaBarbera announced today that Brian Schmack has been named the 17th head coach in Crusader baseball history and just the sixth since 1946.

“We are very excited to have Brian Schmack leading our baseball program,” said LaBarbera. “Over the past couple of years, we have added another chapter of championship play to Valpo’s baseball tradition. This has been the result of hard work by many people, including Brian.
