Riverside—UC Riverside Baseball Coach Doug Smith announced today that he is retiring after nearly 40 years with the program including the last 10 as the team’s head coach. Highlanders Pitching Coach Bobby Applegate has been named the team’s interim head coach, and a national search for Coach Smith’s fulltime replacement will begin immediately.
“I’ve been honored and privileged to be a part of UC Riverside and the Highlanders baseball program for 36 years,” said Smith, “and during that time I have been fortunate to be surrounded by great mentors, great peers, and great student-athletes. FROM CBD NEWS SOURCE LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State Athletics Director Dr. McKinley Boston announced Tuesday, May 27, that the NM State Athletics Department has terminated the contract of head baseball coach Rocky Ward, effective immediately. Ward served as NM State’s head baseball coach for 16 seasons (1997-00 & 2003-14) tallying a 455-458-2overall record. He also served as an assistant coach for the Aggies in 2001 & 2002.
“We thank Coach Ward for his contributions and support in serving our baseball program over the past 18 years,” Boston said.
NM State will conduct a national search to replace Coach Ward.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Heather Lyke announced today, May 21, that Head Baseball Coach Jay Alexander will not be renewed for the 2015 season.
Alexander spent six seasons at the helm of Eastern Michigan’s baseball program finishing with a 159-182 overall record and a 74-88 mark in Mid-American Conference play.
