Carl Iwaski to be named Head Coach at Northern Colorado

NorthernColoradoGREELEY, Colo. – Jon Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles sang the lyrics “Who says you can’t go back?” and Carl Iwasaki is putting the song to the test.

Iwasaki (pronounced Ee-wah-sah-key), who has spent the last six years as the head coach at Austin College, has been named Northern Colorado’s ninth baseball coach.

FDU names Gary Puccio Head Baseball Coach

FDUBaseball Fairleigh Dickinson University Director of Athletics David Langford announced the hiring of Gary Puccio as Head Baseball Coach, released on Wednesday, August 4.    Puccio has been named Coach of the Year six times in his career and has coached over 500 games at the collegiate level.

Texas Tech hires Jim Horner as Assistant Coach

JimHornerTTU LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head baseball coach Dan Spencer announced the hiring of Jim Horner as an assistant coach Tuesday. Horner spent the previous four years as a manager in minor league baseball within the Seattle Mariners’ organization.

The hiring of Horner completes Spencer’s staff for the upcoming year. Spencer hired Jimmy Webster this summer as director of baseball operations. Horner will work primarily with the Red Raider hitters and catchers.

Nate Goulet named Interim Head Coach at Old Dominion

nategoule NORFOLK, VA—Old Dominion University Athletic Director Dr. Wood Selig announced today that assistant coach Nate Goulet has been named interim Head Baseball coach replacing  Jerry Meyers who resigned to become the pitching coach at the University of South Carolina.

Meyers compiled a 167-158 record at ODU in six seasons and was named the 2006 Colonial Athletic Association’s Coach of the Year.

Old Dominion’s Jerry Meyers set to become Pitching Coach at South Carolina

JerryMeyers According to a report by TheBigSpur.com, Jerry Meyers will be the next pitching coach at South Carolina. Meyers has served the past six seasons as the head coach at Old Dominion where he had mixed success accumulating a record of 167-158 with his best finish coming in 2006 when they finished second in the conference.

Winthrop Hires Clemson’s Tom Riginos As New Head Baseball Coach

Ball State names Alex Marconi Head Coach

AlexMarconiBallState Alex Marconi, who has spent the last five years as an assistant baseball coach at Ball State University, has been named the school’s head baseball coach, according to Ball State athletics director Tom Collins.

"We had an outstanding pool of candidates for a very attractive head baseball coaching position at Ball State," Collins say. "Coach Marconi’s knowledge of the program, Ball State University and the Muncie community played a key role in his being named our head coach. He is an outstanding person with great integrity and character who has a tremendous work ethic and desire to be the head baseball coach at Ball State. We welcome Coach Marconi and his family to this new position and look forward to his future with the Cardinals."

Buddy Gouldsmith Joins Nevada Baseball Staff

GouldsmithNevada RENO, Nev. – After conducting a national search University of Nevada head baseball coach Gary Powers has hired former UNLV head coach Buddy Gouldsmith as an assistant coach for the Wolf Pack.  Gouldsmith will work with the outfielders, hitters and coach third base for the Pack.

“Buddy brings a tremendous amount of Division I experience to our staff,” said Powers.  “His recruiting ties and knowledge of our opponents we play will be great asset to our staff.”

In seven seasons directing the UNLV program from 2004-10 he posted a mark of 202-217 earning his 200th career victory this past season.  The 202 wins ranks second among Rebel baseball coaches.  He became just the fourth UNLV baseball coach to reach 100 wins and was the fastest to reach 100 victories.

Bryant Ward added to LMU Coaching Staff

Meric/South Florida Bulls) LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Head Coach Jason Gill added yet another face from his past to his coaching staff last week, announcing the hiring of Bryant Ward as an assistant coach. Gill, first-year assistant coach Ted Silva, and Ward all worked together in the Cal State Fullerton baseball program in 2005 and 2006. Most recently, Ward spent the last four seasons with the University of South Florida before heading back to Southern California for his current stint with LMU baseball.

Jordon Twohig added to Washington Coaching Staff

JordonTwohig SEATTLE – Jordon Twohig, who led Ohlone College (Fremont, Calif.) to the California state junior college championship in 2010, has been named as an assistant coach at Washington, head coach Lindsay Meggs announced on Monday.

In May, Twohig wrapped up his second season as the head coach at Ohlone by winning the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) crown with a 16-10 win over the College of San Mateo in the title game.
