Bryant releases 2013 Schedule

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Highlighted by trips to Oregon State, Ohio State and Stony Brook, the Bryant University baseball team and head coach Steve Owens have announced the club’s 2013 schedule.

The defending Northeast Conference Regular-Season champions, the Bulldogs will face arguably their toughest 56-game slate since moving to the Division I ranks in 2009. George Brown named Monmouth’s Pitching Coach

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University Baseball Head Coach Dean Ehehalt has announced the hiring of George Brown to his coaching staff as the team’s pitching coach. Brown joins the Hawks following a highly-successful amateur and professional pitching career. Brown’s four-year stint at St. John’s was punctuated with Big East Pitcher of the Year honors as a senior in addition to several other honors. Quinnipiac to name Ryan Fuller as Assistant Coach

Quinnipiac will name former UConn infielder Ryan Fuller as their new assistant coach this week. Fuller played the first two years of his college career at UConn-Avery Point before transferring to the main UConn campus in Storrs, CT for his final two seasons being named All-Big East Second Team as a junior. Wagner College head coach Joe Litterio heads to Rutgers as Assistant Coach

Head Coach Joe Litterio is leaving the Wagner program to become an assistant at Rutgers according to a report from SILive.com. Litterio is the all-time wins leader in the history of the Seahawks program winning 240 games and guiding the Seahawks to the 2000 Northeast Conference tourney title and their only NCAA Tournament bid.

I am currently hearing that current Rutgers head coach Fred Hill will likely be turning over the program to Joe Litterio at the end of the year thus the reason for the move.  Read the rest of this entry »

Former Quinnipiac star transitions to the Gridiron

Former Quinnipiac baseball player Mickey Amanti is spending his final year of collegiate eligibility playing football at Division 2 Southern Connecticut State. Last season, Amanti lead the team in batting average (.306), hits (57) and runs (31) during his senior season but decided to spend his last year of college sports on the gridiron.
