NBC World Series in trouble?

logo-nbc The Wichita Eagle has put out a very interesting article about the National Baseball Congress World Series which is facing some struggles with the economic crisis facing the country. They are also facing a crisis as the NCAA has pushed back the College World Series a full week which cuts down on the length of the season as it has to be completed by August 17th according to NCAA rules. The final issue that is facing the NBC World Series is the lack of quality players in the league as many of the best ones are heading to the more prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League and other ones across the country.

Foresters shut out Studs; win second NBC title in three years

Mike Ford pitched a complete-game shutout to win his third game of the tournament and Andre Miller drove in both runs as the Santa Barbara (CA) Foresters shut out the Seattle (WA) Studs 2-0 to in the championship of the 74th National Baseball World Series.

The Foresters (7-0) won their second title in the past three years; like in 2006, Santa Barbara went undefeated in winning the title.

Semifinal:Seattle Wins Rematch With Beatrice; Earns Another With Santa Barbara In Finals

The semifinal game of the 74th National Baseball Congress World Series pitted two teams that met in the fourth round of the tournament: Seattle (WA) and Beatrice (NE).The Studs won the first meeting on Aug. 11 (2-0), and they prevailed in this one 4-1 to reach the championship round. Seattle will visit again with Santa Barbara (CA), a team they lost to 11-5 on Aug. 12.
