DickHowserTrophy DALLAS – The Dick Howser Trophy Committee, consisting of executive members of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Chamber of Commerce and the College Baseball Foundation, is pleased to announce a sponsorship with Easton Foundations beginning in 2011, the 25th anniversary of the award.

UC Irvine’s Daniel Bibona Wins Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award

(Overland Park, KS) – Five-time all-American and Big West Conference pitcher of the year Daniel Bibona from the University of California, Irvine, has been selected as the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award winner for baseball.

The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I baseball coaches, national media and fans, is awarded annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in NCAA® Division I baseball. The announcement and trophy presentation were made today by Lowe’s, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, during the NCAA College World Series® in Omaha.

NCBWA Announces 2010 Pro-Line Athletic Div. I All-America Teams

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Several candidates for the prestigious Dick Howser Trophy highlight the 15th Annual Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-America Team announced Wednesday.

Among the 58 standouts on the three units, there are student-athletes from 20 different conferences and 11 conference championships teams. The three All-America squads are also made up of 14 conference Players of the Year and 11 conference Pitchers of the Year winners.

NCBWA Announces 2010 Pro-Line Athletic Freshman All-American Team

LYNCHBURG, VA. (NCBWA) – A total of 30 standout freshmen college baseball players from every part of the country are featured on the 2010 Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-American Team, the organization announced today.

The 2010 Pro-Line Athletic NCBWA Freshman All-American Team features players from 13 conferences and six conference championship teams. The two All-American squads are also made up of 10 conference “Rookie of the Year” winners.

USA Baseball Announces 2010 Golden Spikes Award Semifinalists

GoldenSpikesAward (DURHAM, N.C.) – USA Baseball announced Tuesday the names of the 30 semifinalists for the 2010 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award (GSA).  This year will mark the 33rd consecutive year that the award has been presented to the nation’s top amateur baseball player. 

Today also marks the third year in a row that GoldenSpikesAward.com – powered by MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball – will be the online home for the award.  The Web site features content devoted exclusively to the GSA, including news, voting history, past-winner photo galleries, and photographs and video highlights for the 2010 semifinalists.  Fans can follow online at GoldenSpikesAward.com as the list of 30 players is narrowed to five finalists on Tuesday, June 8, en route to the announcement of this year’s winner on Tuesday, July 13.

Should Bryce Harper Win the Golden Spikes Award?

My first response to him was that there was no way that a junior college player would win the Golden Spikes award. Come to find out, Alex Fernandez picked up the Golden Spikes award in 1990 out of Miami-Dade Community College.

LUBBOCK, Texas — The College Baseball Foundation announced today the names of 25 players from across the country featured on the watch list for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award.

The Olerud Award, which recognizes a player who makes an impact both on the mound and at the plate, will be presented in Lubbock, Texas, on July 2 as part of the College Baseball Awards Show.

USA Baseball releases updated 2010 Golden Spikes Award Watch List
