FORT WORTH, Texas – Behind the right arms of Greg Holle (1-0) and Eric Marshall, the TCU Horned Frogs defeated #2 Ole Miss, 2-1, Sunday afternoon to pick up their first series victory of the season. The duo combined to limit the high-powered Rebel offense to just one run on six hits. For Marshall it was his first career save. Clint Arnold led the Frogs’ offensive charge with three hits and scored both TCU runs.
For the second straight game the Horned Frogs struck for a first-inning run. Arnold got the two-out rally going with a double to right field. One of the marquee series of the weekend was TCU hosting Ole Miss for a three game set. Florida Gulf Coast 5 South Florida 4
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida baseball team fell, 5-4, Tuesday night to the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles at Red McEwen Field.
The Bulls’ record drops to 3-4, while the Eagles improve to 8-1.
USF’s offensive attack came in the first two innings after falling behind by two after the top of the first. Redshirt freshman Ryan Lockwood spearheaded the Bulls’ offensive charge with a lead-off walk. Junior counterparts Brandon Smith and Addison Maruszak followed with a walk and a hit by pitch to fill the bases. MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Junior centerfielder Aja Barto hammered a solo home run and junior closer Mason Griffin retired all four batters he faced as the Tulane University baseball team defeated TCU, 5-3, in day three of the Dairy Queen Baseball Classic Sunday at the Hubert H. Pepperdine 10 TCU 4
MINNEAPOLIS — #29 Pepperdine scored six runs in the top of the ninth to complete its second consecutive rally, and The Waves claimed a 10-4 win over TCU on Saturday at the Minnesota Dairy Queen Classic in Minneapolis.
The Waves (5-1) extended their winning streak to four games, while TCU fell to 3-3. The Waves trailed yesterday to Tulane 2-1 in the sixth inning, but rallied to claim a 4-2 win over the #18th-ranked Green Wave. Pepperdine improved to 2-0 at the Dairy Queen Classic with the win. TCU 7 Minnesota 4
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Down to their last strike in the ninth inning, Clint Arnold came through with a clutch single that tied the game at four where the TCU Horned Frogs eventually came away with a 12-inning, 7-4 victory over Minnesota at the Dairy Queen Classic. Andrew Cashner (1-0) was outstanding in relief as he held the Golden Gopher bats in check for four innings, while racking up nine strikeouts.
