The TCU Horned Frogs have released their 2008 schedule recently. The Horned Frogs will open up the season on February 22nd when they host Cal-State Fullerton for the first game of a three game set. This game marks the beginning of the Dave Serrano era at Fullerton. The next weekend they will head up to Minneapolis to take part in the MetroDome tournament with Minnesota, Pepperdine, and Tulane. If you are in the Minnesota area, you need to make it to that tournament to see top of the line College Baseball as each school is expected to finish near the top of their conference. TCU then heads home for two non-conference weekday games before hosting Ole Miss for a three game set. TCU finishes their non-conference weekend schedule with a visit to Wichita State from March 14th-16th. TCU then heads into conference match-ups on the weekends and get the key match-up against Utah in Lupton Stadium on May 2nd-4th. TCU will also host the Mountain West Conference tournament on May 20th-25th. The full schedule is available in PDF format here. The College Baseball Blog expects TCU to make a run for the conference title in 2008.
The Bulldogs picked up an 11-6 victory over the Gophers to advance to the Regional Final against Cal-State Fullerton which took place later on Sunday. The Gophers end the season with a 41-18 record.

Cal-State Fullerton advances to the Super Regionals after defeating Fresno State 13-2 in the NCAA Regional that took place in San Diego. The Bulldogs committed six errors in the game which did not help their cause against such a powerhouse in the Titans. Fresno ends to the season with a 38-29 record. Fullerton will play in the Super Regionals against UCLA at a Site to be announced on Monday.

Minnesota knocked off San Diego 6-5 in an elimination game on Saturday. The Toreros scored five runs in the top of the ninth to force extra innings but lost in the tenth inning on a single by Minnesota’s Derek McCallum. Minnesota will play Fullerton/Fresno State on Sunday while San Diego ends the season with a 43-18 record.

The Titans advanced to the Final games of the San Diego Regional after knocking off Fresno State 6-4 in the nightcap on Saturday night. Evan McCarthur and Josh Fellhauer combined for five hits to lead the offense. Fullerton will wait to play the winner of Fresno State/Minnesota in the second game on Sunday.

Fresno State shocked the host Toreros by knocking them off 6-2 in the NCAA Regional. Fresno will face Fullerton on Saturday while San Diego will face Minnesota.

The Cal-State Fullerton Titans picked up a 7-1 victory over Minnesota in the opening game of the San Diego Regional. Fullerton will face Fresno State in the Winners bracket while Minnesota will face San Diego.
The Toreros are led by All-American candidate Brian Matusz who leads the team with a 10-3 record and a 2.73 ERA. He has also struck out 156 batters in 115 innings this season. The offense is led by Shane Buschini who has a .356 average and 14 homers on the season. They will open up against Fresno State at 8pm PDT.
San Diego Tourney Notes
The Titans enter the weekend with a 33-23 record. Wes Roemer came into the season as the expected ace of the pitching staff but has been up and down through the year. He has a 9-6 record with a 3.51 ERA. Clark Hardman is the leading hitter on the team with a .378 average. They open the tournament against Minnesota at 4 pm PDT.
The Gophers (40-16) received an at-large berth after advancing to the Big Ten Championship game but lost to Ohio State 4-2. They are led on offense by Mike Mee who is hitting .397. The top pitcher for Minnesota is Dustin Brabender who has a 5-1 record. They open against Fullerton at 4 pm PDT.
The Bulldogs enter the weekend as the champions of the WAC after knocking off Nevada 17-4. They have five hitters who are batting over .304 on the season which is led by Erik Wetzel (.348 BA). The top pitcher for Fresno State is Justin Wilson who is 8-5 with a 3.19 ERA. They open the tournament at 8 pm PDT on Friday.
The CBB predicts San Diego to come through the Regional with their strong pitchers but watch out for Fullerton to make a run with their strong coaching staff.

The Citadel Bulldogs knocked off UNC–Asheville by a score of 4-3 in the final game of the Homewood Suites Shootout. The Citadel got a walk-off RBI single from Kyle Jordan in the bottom of the ninth. Link Saunders picked up the victory for The Citadel by pitching 1.2 innings of shutout baseball. The Citadel will play Campbell on Tuesday before heading to the Diary Queen Classic in Minneapolis, Minnesota. UNC–Asheville will be off until Friday when they head to the University of New Orleans.
The Minnesota Gophers behind a six run sixth inning to pick up a 7-3 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies in the final day of The Homewood Suites Shootout. VT starting pitcher David Cross pitched no hit baseball until the sixth inning when the Gophers went on their rampage of six runs. Cross ended up picking up the loss with Tyler Oakes picking up the win for the Gophers.
On Day 2 of the Homewood Suites Shootout, The Minnesota Gophers behind a 4-4 performance from Second baseman Derek McCallum picked up a 6-3 victory over the Citadel.
Anthony Sosnoskie hit a grand slam in the top of the tenth inning to lead the Va Tech Hokies to a 9-6 victory over UNC-Asheville at the Homewood Suites Shooutout.
The Citadel Bulldogs suffered a tough 5-4 setback to Virginia Tech in 11 innings on Friday. The Citadel left the bases loaded in five innings and stranded 21 runners on base in the loss. It seems that The Citadel dominated the game but were not able to pull out the victory.
The University of Minnesota pulled out a 7-5 victory over UNC-Asheville. They came from a 4-0 deficit to come out victorious.
The Citadel will host The Homewoods Suites Shootout this weekend with Va Tech, Minnesota, and UNC-Asheville. This should be a very good tournament as each team are on the same skill level. Minnesota will be playing their first game of the season on Friday when they face UNC-Asheville. The Citadel will square against VA Tech on Friday.
