Minnesota releases 2014 Schedule

JohnAndersonMinnesotaFeatured2Head coach John Anderson has announced the University of Minnesota baseball team’s 2014 schedule. The Golden Gophers will open their 126th season on Feb. 14.

With the Metrodome being torn down to make way for a new stadium, Minnesota will have a full slate of non-conference games on the road or at neutral sites before opening its home season at Siebert Field in late March. The Gophers start 2014 by hosting a series against Northern Illinois in Glendale, Ariz., Feb. 14-16. They will also be the home team against Creighton in Fort Myers, Fla., Feb. 21-23. Top 100 Countdown: 20. Tom Windle (Minnesota)

WindleCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!

Number 20 on our Top 100 Countdown is Minnesota’s Tom Windle. The 6’4 left-handed pitcher from Maple Grove, Minnesota was selected in the 28th round by the White Sox in the 2010 MLB Draft.  Continue reading

Minnesota releases 2013 Schedule

JohnAndersonMinnesotaThe 2013 University of Minnesota baseball season marks a new beginning in Golden Gopher history. As Gopher baseball enters its 125th year as a University of Minnesota sport, it also is the first year of the newly constructed Siebert Field. With a combination of games at the Metrodome, Siebert Field and hosting the Big Ten Tournament at Target Field, the Gophers will kick off the season on Feb. 2 with the 19th annual Pro and Legends Alumni game. Minnesota begins play at Siebert Field on April 5 against Ohio State. Continue reading


Minnesota announces Temporary Staff Changes

This past June, University of Minnesota baseball pitching coach Todd Oakes was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. As Coach Oakes continues his fight against cancer, the Gopher baseball program has made temporary staff changes. Head coach John Anderson has announced that Director of Operations Lee Swenson will become an assistant coach with the team. Anderson has also announced that Todd’s son and former Gopher, Tyler Oakes, will be the volunteer assistant and pitching coach. The program will assess the coaching responsibilities based on Todd’s health in January, and will rejoin the Golden Gopher program at the appropriate time. Continue reading

HYANNIS, Mass. – Most Valuable Player Phil Ervin (Samford), Top Pitcher and Outstanding Pro Prospect Sean Manaea (Indiana St.) and Batting Champion Patrick Biondi (Michigan) top the list of players selected to the Cape Cod Baseball League Post-Season All-League Team. Continue reading
