One of our favorite players since I started this site has been Buster Posey who is now the everyday starting catcher with the San Francisco Giants. He made the transition before his sophomore season from shortstop to catcher after the recommendation of FSU assistant coach Mike Martin Jr. He was able to make the transition seamless and now is considered the top young catcher in the league.

The Florida State Seminoles lost today to the University of Miami (FL) 7-5 to end the FSU season without a National Title. Earlier this season, FSU and Miami (FL) had a bench clearing incident at the end of the ACC series. The incident started when the Seminoles showed poor sportsmanship by not coming out at the end of the game which caused a reaction from the UM players to get the FSU players out. (Full Article about incident available here.) Today, both teams came out of the dugout with the FSU players and UM players shaking hands without incident. Mike Martin is looking at the starting rotation and might be mixing things up this weekend when the Seminoles visit Miami. Florida State has one of the top pitchers in the country in Bryan Henry but Michael Hyde has started to struggle with two consecutive losses and a no-decision in his last start against North Carolina in which he only lasted 3.1 innings. Ryan Strauss also struggled mightly against North Carolina on Sunday by giving up five runs in 3.2 innings. The Tallahassee Democrat discusses the topic here.
Florida State Head Coach Mike Martin is nearing a milestone of taking over the number 4 spot in collegiate baseball wins. If Mike Martin Sr. is able to sweep Hofstra and pick up the victory over Florida in their mid-week game, he will move into sole possession of fourth place. This has been a very good year for Mr. Martin because he was named to the ABCA on January 5th. The Tallahassee Democrat wrote a real good article about Martin reaching this milestone. It can be read here.
The FSU Seminoles will welcome Hofstra to Tallahassee this weekend for a three game set. Hofstra has played in one series this year and were swept by Auburn last weekend. The Seminoles enter the series at 6-0 with consecutive sweeps over Tennessee and UNC-Asheville.
The Tallahassee Democrat checks in with an article about newcomer Brandon Reichert. He is entering the season as a senior and this will be the first season he suits up for the hometown team. He signed with Mercer University but was not given his release by Head Coach Craig Gibson. The full article about Mr. Reichert is available here.
