MALIBU, Calif. — Texas A&M pitcher Michael Wacha outdueled Pepperdine’s Jon Moscot in a 4-0 win Friday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium.
Through the first five and a half innings, neither pitcher had allowed a single hit. Moscot’s no-hit and shutout bids ended in the sixth inning when the Aggies took a 3-0 lead with three consecutive two-out hits.
Wacha carried a perfect game into the eighth inning until an error on a strikeout gave the Waves their first baserunner. The very next pitch he lost the no-hitter on an infield single that deflected off Wacha’s glove. The hard-throwing right-hander allowed only two hits and struck out eight in a complete game shutout.
