COCA COLA PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Michael Goodnight, Yarmouth-Dennis, RHP
Yarmouth-Dennis’ Michael Goodnight (Houston) is this week’s Coca Cola Pitcher of the Week. Goodnight has been lights out in his second year for Y-D, and put together his strongest performance of the season last week in a 2-0 victory over Cotuit. He came up one out short of recording a one-hit shutout, striking out nine over 8.2 innings. The college sophomore is following up a strong 2009 with Y-D (2-0, 2.52 ERA) with another promising season. UPDATED LIST AVAILABLE HERE
The 2010 College Baseball season ended on Wednesday night so it is now time to turn the page and focus on the 2011 season. Fanhouse.com MLB Draft guru Frankie Piliere has put out his first 2011 MLB Draft Follow List. The list includes his top 50 players that he has seen that are eligible for the draft next season. This means that you will not see a couple of big names on the list like UCLA’s Gerrit Cole and Vanderbilt’s Sonny Gray to name a few. He plans on updating his rankings in the coming months as he seems more of these guys play. The listings today has high school LHP Daniel Norris as his top ranked player with UConn’s Matt Barnes in the runner up spot. Alex Dickerson from Indiana checks in at number 3 behind Barnes while Travis Harrison and George Springer are fourth and fifth respectively. The rest of the top ten is Brett Mooneyham from Stanford, Dylan Davis from Redmond WA, Phil Evan from LaCosta Canyon in California, Josh Tobias of SE Guilford High School in North Carolina, and Hudson Boyd is tenth out of South Fort Myers High School. A couple other names of interest is Jason Esposito of Vanderbilt checking in at 17th while Kolten Wong is at 49 on the countdown. You can check out the full list below.
