Louisville’s season didn’t end as well as they would have liked. Just two games into the 2013 Big East tournament, and the Cardinals found themselves ousted by UConn. Though losing their opportunity at a national seed in the NCAA tournament, the Cardinals were selected to host the regional at Jim Patterson Stadium.
The theme in this four-team field? Pitching. Each team comes with its own set of strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, each squad boasts some talented arms, making this the regional tournament with arguably the deepest pitching pool. Continue reading
I am absolutely tired of writing about these “Steroid” or “Performance-Enhancement” Drugs in College Baseball or any baseball. This has absolutely killed my interest in pro baseball and it is starting to filter into the college game. When I started writing on College Baseball many years ago, I was one of the few that actually covered the Steroid scandal with the Duke baseball team under former head coach Bill Hillier. The Blue Devils coaching staff “encouraged” steroid use by the players and the school continued to renew Hillier’s contract year after year. Continue reading

Coral Gables as a host site comes as a surprise to most, if not all of college baseball. The final host spot came down to a few SEC teams and an ACC team in Miami, and the selection committee opted to have a 3rd regional in the state of Florida, with Miami joining Florida State and Florida as host sites. The Coral Gables regional features two teams from Florida, one from New York, and one from Missouri.
