College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the countdown today at number 59 with Georgia Tech junior third baseman Matt Skole. He is a 6’4 218 power hitting left handed hitter. Skole is a Woodstock, Georgia native and attended Blessed Trinity Catholic High School where he picked up three letters. He picked up several awards including being named the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s 2008 Hitter of the Year, Fulton County Player of the Year in 2008, member of the All-Fulton County baseball team in 2007 and 2008, and All-state selection by the Atlanta Dugout Club in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Here is your Cape Cod Baseball League Recap for July 3rd. There was a blowout tonight at the Bourne Braves defeated Falmouth 17-3 as Tennessee’s Steven Gruver gave up 10 runs (five earned) and nine hits in only 2.1 innings. The best night at the plate was by Matt Newman from Arizona State as he went 3-4 with a double for the Orleans Firebirds. Andy Burns from Kentucky also had a solid night for Brewster as he went 2-2 with 3 RBI. There was no real outstanding performances on the mound with Andrew Gagnon from Long Beach State going seven innings, giving up five hits, and one run while striking out 8 as his Brewster Whitecaps defeated Orleans 6-2.
