Siena visits Ronald McDonald House

Siena baseball visited the Ronald McDonald House this past weekend, moving holiday gifts and cooking a meal for families staying there. The visit is an annual one, and you can check out an exclusive video here!

Opened in 1982, the Ronald McDonald House has hosted over 14,000 visits with families from 37 New York counties, 38 states, and 29 countries. Continue reading


Canisius extends Mike McRae through 2014 Season

Canisius College director of athletics Bill Maher has announced that baseball coach Mike McRae has signed a contract extension through the 2014 season.

“During his time as head coach, Mike has developed the Canisius College baseball program into exactly that – a program that consistently competes for a conference championship,” Canisius College director of athletics Bill Maher said. “Mike has made this program into one of the most successful in the Northeast region. Manhattan releases 2012 Schedule

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – First year head coach Jim Duffy released the 2012 schedule for the Manhattan baseball team on Thursday. The out-of-conference slate includes matchups with powerhouse teams from the Big East, ACC, Mountain West, Sun Belt, and Big South along with the difficult MAAC contests for the defending conference champions. Justin Haywood added to Marist Coaching Staff

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Justin Haywood has been hired as an assistant coach with the Marist baseball program. Haywood’s on-field responsibilities include working with the team’s catchers and hitters.

“We are excited to have Justin become our newest member of the Marist Family,” Head Coach Chris Tracz said. “He brings an energy and passion that is infectious. He shares the same beliefs and philosophy of succeeding on and off the field, and we look forward to him teaching and mentoring our student-athletes.” Continue reading


Manhattan set to name Jim Duffy as Head Coach

Manhattan will name current Seton Hall assistant coach Jim Duffy as their next head coach of the Jaspers baseball program according to CBD sources. Duffy is a 1996 graduate of Seton Hall and has spent parts of seven season as an assistant coach with the Pirates. Duffy played at Seton Hall from 1992-96 and signed a free agent contract with the Houston Astros in 1997. He played three seasons in the Astros organization and progressing to the AA level before retiring in 2000 to pursue coaching and finish his education. Continue reading


George Brown named Assistant Coach at Siena

George Brown has been hired as the new baseball assistant at Siena College. Brown was a standout pitcher at St. John’s University, and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 27th Round of the 2008 Major League Baseball First Year Player’s Draft. He played professional baseball from 2008-2010 before seeing his career cut short due to injury.

Brown will serve as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Siena, taking over the top spot on Rossi’s staff. Continue reading

Fordham Set To Hire Manhattan’s Kevin Leighton

According to CBD sources, Manhattan’s Kevin Leighton will be named head coach at Fordham on Monday.  Leighton replaces Nick Restaino who left the program at the end of the 2011 season to pursue other opportunities.  Leighton has a career coaching record of 200-119-1 in six seasons at Manhattan including MAAC regular season titles in 2008, 2009 and 2011 along with MAAC tournament titles in 2006 and 2011.
