Columbia Regional: Game 3 Recap

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Jacob May scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and delivered a three-run home run in a six-run seventh Saturday as Coastal Carolina beat Manhattan, 11-1, in an elimination game at the Columbia Regional of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

Columbia Regional: Game 2 Recap

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Colby Holmes took a no-hitter into the eighth inning and South Carolina figured out Manhattan pitcher Taylor Sewitt’s sidearm delivery the third time through the batting order as the Gamecocks beat the Jaspers, 7-0, in front of 7,043 at Carolina Stadium Friday night to complete the first day of the NCAA Columbia Regional.

2012 MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Edison, N.J. – Canisius College has been chosen as the favorite to win the 2012 MAAC Baseball Championship, according to a preseason poll voted on by the league’s nine head coaches.

An extremely close vote saw Canisius top the poll with 61 points followed by Rider University with 60. Manhattan College was picked third with 59 points, while Iona College was fourth with 56. Marist College finished with 53 points, followed by Siena College (43), Fairfield University (42), Saint Peter’s College (16), and Niagara University (15). NCBWA Names 2012 Preseason Stopper of the Year Watch List

Siena visits Ronald McDonald House

Siena baseball visited the Ronald McDonald House this past weekend, moving holiday gifts and cooking a meal for families staying there. The visit is an annual one, and you can check out an exclusive video here!

Canisius extends Mike McRae through 2014 Season

Canisius College director of athletics Bill Maher has announced that baseball coach Mike McRae has signed a contract extension through the 2014 season.

“During his time as head coach, Mike has developed the Canisius College baseball program into exactly that – a program that consistently competes for a conference championship,” Canisius College director of athletics Bill Maher said. “Mike has made this program into one of the most successful in the Northeast region. Manhattan releases 2012 Schedule

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – First year head coach Jim Duffy released the 2012 schedule for the Manhattan baseball team on Thursday. The out-of-conference slate includes matchups with powerhouse teams from the Big East, ACC, Mountain West, Sun Belt, and Big South along with the difficult MAAC contests for the defending conference champions.
