We enter the opening weekend of the College Baseball season. We will be bringing you an ACC weekend preview throughout the regular season and during the postseason will have previews of every regional. The biggest highlight of the weekend is Wake Forest heading out to Pepperdine for a three game set. We have a great preview on every ACC in our conference preview section broken off by divisions. CSTV writer Eric Sorensen continues his series of conference previews on Saturday as he checks in on four conferences.
The Siena Media Relations department has put out a substantial preview of the 2008 squad. The team went through a 21 game losing streak finishing the season with a 12-33 campaign. They return the entire infield which has played together since their freshmen campaign as they enter their final season together. The full article is available here.
FROM CONFERENCE RELEASE
EDISON, N.J. – Canisius College is the top choice to win it all during the 2008 MAAC baseball season, according to a preseason poll voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Canisius finished with 71 points in the poll, four points ahead of second-place Manhattan College (67). Marist College placed third with 66 points. Fairfield University and Siena College tied for fourth place (50), followed by Rider University (36), Saint Peter’s College (34), Iona College (19), and Niagara University (12). Continue reading

Here is some more recruiting classes for student-athletes who will enter college in the 2008-2009 year.
The Marist baseball program will welcome eight new players for the 2008 season including three transfers. Chris Wojick from Maine, B.J. Martin from St. John’s, and Zach Starkey from Wabash Valley College will join five freshman in the Red Fox program. The full release is available here.
The MAAC coaches have picked Lemoyne to win the MAAC conference this year. Bobby Blevins is expected to led Lemoyne to the conference title as he was picked as the preseason pitcher of the year. Matt Rizzotti was picked as the MAAC preseason player of the year. He will have a tough time repeating what Manhattan did in the NCAA tournament last year when the Jaspers knocked off Nebraska and San Francisco before bowing out to Miami.
