Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida State (6-0) remained undefeated on the season with a 4-3 victory over Auburn (4-3) in front of a crowd of 6,544, the fourth largest crowd to witness a game at Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles got seven shutout innings from senior Ryan Strauss and three solo home runs on Saturday afternoon to win their third straight game over the Tigers this season. Continue reading

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Sophomore right-hander Alex White went six strong innings, and second baseman Kyle Seager drove in a career-best three runs for the second straight day in No. 2 North Carolina’s 8-1 win over Kent State Friday at the Coca-Cola Classic at The Winthrop Ballpark. The Tar Heels (5-1) scored seven runs over the first two innings and have outscored the opposition, 14-2, over the last two days. Continue reading

Kentucky wins Doubleheader

MOBILE, Ala. — Scott Green struck out a career-high 10 batters in just five innings of action, as the No. 20 Kentucky baseball team pounded out 13 runs, to take its second game in the 23rd annual Coca-Cola Classic, 13-3 over Fairfield, on Sunday morning at Hank Aaron Field.

Green, a Baseball America preseason All-Southeastern Conference first-team selection, got his first start since getting the nod at Florida on April 1, 2005. The 6-foot-8, 245-pound right-hander opened up his 2008 season in impressive fashion, striking out the side in the top of the first inning. Aside from Fairfield’s three-run second inning, Green was perfect, sitting down 10, now allowing a walk, working five innings, and seven hits. Green nearly single handedly retired the first eight outs of the game, striking out seven and recording one ground out hit back to the mound. Continue reading

Kentucky set to open in Coca-Cola Classic

ACC Weekend Preview for Feb. 22nd-24th

We enter the opening weekend of the College Baseball season. We will be bringing you an ACC weekend preview throughout the regular season and during the postseason will have previews of every regional. The biggest highlight of the weekend is Wake Forest heading out to Pepperdine for a three game set. We have a great preview on every ACC in our conference preview section broken off by divisions. Canisius picked to win MAAC

FROM CONFERENCE RELEASE
EDISON, N.J. – Canisius College is the top choice to win it all during the 2008 MAAC baseball season, according to a preseason poll voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Canisius finished with 71 points in the poll, four points ahead of second-place Manhattan College (67). Marist College placed third with 66 points. Fairfield University and Siena College tied for fourth place (50), followed by Rider University (36), Saint Peter’s College (34), Iona College (19), and Niagara University (12). Continue reading
