EDISON, NJ – The defending MAAC Baseball Champions, Fairfield University, was voted by the leagues 11 head coaches to repeat as MAAC Baseball Champions in 2017. The Stags received seven out of 11 first-place votes, totaling 116 points. Manhattan College sophomore catcher Fabian Pena is the 2017 MAAC Baseball Preseason Player of the Year.

The Canisius baseball team and 12th-year coach Mike McRae have announced the course they have set to defend the 2015 MAAC title, releasing the 2016 schedule on Monday. The Blue and Gold are slated to play 28 non-conference contests against 13 different opponents, highlighted by Michigan, which like Canisius, was a 2015 NCAA tournament competitor.

Canisius College head baseball coach Mike McRae’s wife lost her year long battle with cancer two weeks ago. She left behind two young children and her husband Mike. The Canisius Athletic Department has started to take donations for the medical expenses, funeral costs, and the children’s education fund.
