College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the top 100 players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 78 with Louisiana-Lafayette shortstop Blake Trahan. In his freshman campaign with the Ragin’ Cajuns, Trahan was the only freshman in the Cajuns lineup during the 2013 season and quickly showed signs of a top performer. In 213 at bats the shortstop compiled 68 hits, 38 RBI and hit to a .319 avg. The Kinder, La., native started 62 of the Cajuns’ 63 games at shortstop and hit safely in 48 of 62 games. After being named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team, Trahan was then also named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. He is the first Cajun to be recognized as a Freshman All-American since Jonathan Lucroy in 2005. Continue reading

The Tigers, who are the No. 4 national seed in the field of 64, have won 14 of the last 16 regionals they have hosted. LSU will have some tough competition, however, against the powerful bats of in-state foe No. 2 seed Louisiana-Lafayette.
