2013 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll and Teams

sunbelt_thumb.jpgNEW ORLEANS – The Florida Atlantic Owls have been tabbed as the preseason favorites to win the 2013 Sun Belt Conference baseball title, the league announced on Monday.

FAU won the SBC regular season title in 2012 behind a 32-22 overall record and a 19-8 record in SBC play. This season, the Owls return six starters from that squad and four starting pitchers, including 2013 All-SBC Preseason selections pitcher Austin Gomber and first baseman Mark Nelson. Louisiana releases 2013 Schedule

LAFAYETTE – A season-opening 14-game homestand, visits from LSU and Tulane and hosting the Sun Belt Conference Tournament highlight the home portion of the 2013 Ragin’ Cajuns baseball schedule which features a total of 33 regular season playing dates at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field. Lance Harvell named Assistant Coach at Louisiana-Lafayette

LAFAYETTE – Lance Harvell has been hired as the new volunteer assistant coach for Ragin’ Cajuns baseball, head coach Tony Robichaux announced Wednesday.

2012 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The Panthers of FIU and the Trojans of Troy have been tabbed as the preseason favorites to win the 2012 Sun Belt Conference baseball title in a vote of the league’s head coaches.

FIU, which finished second overall in the standings in 2011, returns five starters to an offense that led the SBC in batting average, home runs and runs scored. The Panthers finished last season 20-9-1 in conference play. FIU received four first-place votes from the coaches and finished with 93 points. Read the rest of this entry »

LITTLE ROCK – Junior Tyler Buckley pitched four scoreless innings to help the Maroon Team even UALR’s Fall World Series with a 2-1 victory over the Silver Team Wednesday afternoon at Gary Hogan Field. Central Florida: Black 5 Gold 4

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – Trailing by as many as three runs in Game 2 of the Black and Gold World Series, the Black team never faltered, rallying for a three-run eighth inning to top the Gold team, 5-4, Thursday afternoon from the baseball complex. Sun Belt Conference Announces New Baseball Tournament Format

NEW ORLEANS – Following one of the most successful seasons in Sun Belt Conference baseball history the SBC baseball coaches decided to implement a new tournament format for the upcoming 2011 SBC Baseball Championship.

The new round-robin format, which is similar in scope to the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament, will feature eight of the ten SBC teams competing against each other in two four-team pools with the team with the best record in each pool advancing to the tournament’s championship game. 2010 NCAA Baseball Attendance Leaders

The NCAA released their 2010 NCAA Baseball Attendance Figures which is led by four SEC schools. The LSU Tigers lead the pack with an average of 10,673 fans in 37 games. Arkansas comes in second with 7,704 fans while Ole Miss comes in third with 6,759 fans edging out fourth place South Carolina by an average of one fan.
