Top 100 Countdown: 51. Logan Verrett (Baylor)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 51 with junior RHP Logan Verrett from Baylor. The Corpus Christi TX native attended Calallen High School which was considered one of the best teams in the nation in 2008. As a senior, he went 18-0 with 0.67 ERA, 167 strikeouts, 12 complete game and three shutouts on the mound. His 18 wins was a school record and led the nation. At the plate, he ended up hitting .455 with seven home runs, 33 RBI and 46 runs as he helped lead the team to a 42-1 record bringing them to the Texas Class 4A state title. The team finished the season ranked ninth in the country according to the Collegiate Baseball/Easton Sports rankings. Continue reading

Frankie Pilere of Fanhouse.com continues to update his top prospects for the 2011 MLB Draft. He checks in today with his top 115 players that he believes has top four round talent. 2010 Cape Cod Baseball All-League Team


CCBL_2007_250 Regular-season MVP Kolten Wong (Hawaii) and home run champion Jordan Ribera (Fresno State) lead the list of stars who were named to the 2010 Cape Cod Baseball League’s All-League team that was announced by commissioner Paul Galop this weekend.

A total of 24 players were selected to the elite team, with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox and the Orleans Firebirds each placing four on the squad. The lone representative from the Cape League champion Cotuit Kettleers is starting pitcher Austin Wood (St. Petersburg), who went 3-0 with a 0.74 ERA this season.

2010 Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game Recap

The Cape Cod Baseball League hosted the 2010 All-Star Game at Fenway Park on Wednesday evening. The Western Division picked up a 5-0 victory over the East behind a strong pitching performance from the Western Division All-Stars. 2010 Cape Cod All-Star Game Rosters Released

CCBL_ASG_Logo_2010_250 The marquee collegiate summer league all-star game will take place on July 28th from Fenway Park in Boston Massachusetts with the Cape Cod Baseball League All Star Game. The Cape Cod Baseball League recently announced the 2010 All-Star Game rosters which feature some of the best pro prospects for the 2011 MLB Draft. The College Baseball Blog will have a Live Blog from the game with TCBB Senior Writer Katherine Cornetta joining TCBB editor Brian Foley in covering the event. Baylor’s Logan Verrett is the Catch of the Day

Baylor RHP Logan Verrett was recently featured by the Chatham Anglers in their “Catch of the Day” daily feature. He discussed his seven no-hit innings from Friday night while demonstrating how he throws his pitches. He is currently 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 14 innings while only giving up three hits.
