The University of Central Arkansas Bears knocked off their first ranked opponent of the season on Sunday, beating #21 Southeastern Louisiana 8-6 in Southland Conference play at Alumni Field.

#27 Southeastern Louisiana 5 Central Arkansas 4
The No. 21 Southeastern Louisiana baseball team clinched a third consecutive Southland Conference series win over Central Arkansas with a 5-4 victory Saturday at Alumni Field. The Lions improved to 22-2 overall and 7-1 in league play.
The big series this weekend in the Southland Conference features the Lamar Cardinals traveling to San Marcos to take on the Texas State Bobcats. Lamar enters the series with a 15-6 overall record while being 2-4 in Southland Conference play as they lost two out of three to Central Arkansas and Nicholls State back to back weekend. They still feature a strong weekend rotation headlined by Matison Smith (3-1, 2.86 ERA) and Eric Harrington (3-0, 4.50 ERA). Texas State will come into the series with an 11-8 record while being 4-2 in the Southland Conference. They won two out of three games against both Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Sam Houston State the last two weekends to get of to a good start.

#30 Southeastern Louisiana 6 McNeese State 5
Cass Hargis went 3-for-5, driving in the eventual go-ahead run in a three-run fifth inning, and Tyler Watkins fanned seven batters in 5.2 innings as No. 17 Southeastern Louisiana held off a ninth inning rally by McNeese State to claim a 6-5 victory Friday night at Cowboy Diamond.
Lamar 7 at Nicholls State 3
Lamar scored four runs in the first inning and that was all sophomore right-hander Eric Harrington needed to push the Cardinals to a 7-3 win over Nicholls at Ray Didier Field on Sunday to avoid a road sweep.

Bobby Shore tossed seven innings and limited Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to one run as the No. 15 Sooners (15-1) rolled to their 10th straight win with an 11-2 decision on Saturday in the Whataburger Collegiate Classic.

Texas State 20 Penn State 6
Texas State scored in all but two innings, rapped out 15 hits and capitalized on as many walks issued by Penn State’s pitching staff, all leading to a 20-6 rout of the Nittany Lions Friday night at Bobcat Field.
Texas State (6-6) is set to take the series with tonight’s win, while Penn State (4-6) falls in their fifth-straight game with the loss.

Texas State 13, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 8
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Andrew Stumph was a double shy of hitting for the cycle and spearheaded an 18-hit outing from Texas State that nearly matched the team’s past two games combined at the plate, leading to a 13-8 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to clinch the first Southland Conference series of the season Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Field.

HAMMOND, La. – The 2010 Southeastern Louisiana baseball team now has the school’s all-time best winning streak all to itself. After tying the mark Friday, the Lions broke it Saturday, taking their 11th straight game to improve to 11-0 on the year. The 4-1 victory over Texas Southern also clinched the series for Southeastern.
