Kent State releases 2012 Schedule

KENT, Ohio — Eighth-year Kent State baseball head coach Scott Stricklin announced the 2012 schedule Tuesday (Nov. 15).

Kent State’s slate consists of four games against two 2011 NCAA Tournament participants, 27 Mid-American Conference contests, 21 home dates at Olga A. Mural Field at Schoonover Stadium and the Sixth Annual Diamond Classic For Kids against rival Akron at Canal Park. Continue reading

NCBWA Announces Finalist For 2011 Stopper of the Year Award


Wichita, Kan. (NCBWA) — Five of college baseball’s top relief specialists have been selected as finalists for the seventh annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, the NCBWA announced Tuesday.

This year’s finalists include NCAA saves leaders Kyle McMillen of Kent State and Bo Reeder of East Tennessee State, along with Branden Kline of Virginia, Corey Knebel of Texas and Matt Price of South Carolina.

Austin, Texas – Junior Mitchell Pitts took the mound for the team’s elimination game on Saturday against Princeton and delivered a strong performance in leading the Bobcats to a 3-1 victory over the Tigers. Texas State remains alive in the double-elimination Austin Regional played at UFCU Disch-Falk Field and will take on the loser of the Texas/Kent State game, which will be played tonight at 6:30 p.m., tomorrow at 1 p.m.  Continue reading
