Clemson signee Daniel Norris, out Johnson City, TN and Science Hill High School was in Dunedin, Florida to have his physical according to a tweet from Keith Law on Friday afternoon. Norris was selected with the 74th overall pick but was widely considered to be the top lefthanded arm in the 2011 MLB Draft. If the news is true about him being in Dunedin for a physical, it would mean that the Blue Jays have started to seriously consider signing him and a deal could be coming soon. Continue reading
Coming into the season, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Matt Purke was the top draft eligible left-handed pitcher for the 2011 MLB Draft. Things have definitely changed over the first five weeks of the season. College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 12 in our countdown with Georgia Tech LHP Jed Bradley. He is from Huntsville, Alabama, where he attended Huntsville High School for one year. He ended up making six starts as a senior striking out 59 and posting a 1.79 ERA in 39 innings of work. Before transferring to Alabama, he picked up two letters at Eisenhower High School in Shelby Township, Michigan. In his final season at Eisenhower, he had a 0.91 ERA, tossing seven complete games. He ended up setting the school record at Eisenhower High School while being tabbed to the 2007 Detroit Free Press Top-20 in addition to being named to the all-conference and all-district teams. Here are my Top 10 players to watch in tomorrow’s Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star game at Fenway Park. The CCBL All-Star game is considered by many as the premier summer league All-Star game. The league has had 826 players proceed onto MLB careers. In 2009, the CCBL had 217 alums in the Majors while 234 Cape Leaguers were selected in the 2009 MLB Draft. Harwich got a walk-off grand slam from Pratt Maynard to defeat the Hyannis Harbor Hawks 4-3 and the Wareham Gatement defeated the Chatham Anglers 4-1.
