LYNN – After 42 regular season games and an additional nine playoff contests, the North Shore Navigators battled their way to a second place finish in the division, defeated the defending champion Newport Gulls in the playoffs, and in the end won their first ever NECBL championship after they prevailed in an unforgettable 5-4 win in the NECBL finals last night at Fraser Field.

The Danbury Westerners got a two run single by Brett Knief (UNC) in the seventh inning to erase a 1-0 deficit and lead the Westerners to a 2-1 victory over the North Adams SteepleCats in the final game of their Western Division Series. Danbury right-handed starting pitcher Mike Hauschild (Dayton) was masterful giving up three hits while giving up one run on three walks while striking out 13 batters. (FULL BOX SCORE) Danbury will head on the road for Game 1 of the NECBL Championship Series on Sunday at the North Shore Navigators.
The 2010 NECBL All-Star Game took place this year at Cardines Field in Newport Rhode Island which serves as the home of the Newport Gulls franchise. The NECBL features players from power conference teams like Vanderbilt and Georgia while also having players from lesser known schools like Nova Southeastern and UMass-Lowell.
