CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior right-hander Patrick Johnson struck out a career-high 12 batters during seven shutout innings as No. 12 North Carolina (35-10, 14-8 ACC) downed Maryland (20-30, 5-20 ACC), 5-0, Friday night at Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels have won four straight games and stretched its streak of not allowing an earned run to 30 innings in the win.
After waiting an hour due to a rain delay, Patrick Johnson came out dealing Friday night as he allowed just four hits and struck out a dozen en route to earning his eighth win of the year.
Colin Moran had a hand in all five runs for the Tar Heels as he scored a pair of runs and drove in three more with a bases-clearing double in the fourth inning to blow the game open.

Number 2 ranked Florida (7-0) finished off a three-game sweep of Boston College (2-4) with a 7-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at McKethan Stadium in front of 4,213 fans. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Mike McGee has spent the past few weeks tuning up his bat in the cage with assistant coach Mike Martin, Jr. The senior All-American’s performance in Saturday’s 16-3 rout of Hoftrsa left little doubt that he’s hitting on all cylinders.

No. 1 Florida (6-0) plated three runs in the seventh to snap a 3-3 tie en route to a 9-3 victory over Boston College (2-3) on Friday night. The Gators’ 20th-straight win at McKethan Stadium secured the weekend series, which will wrap up on Sunday at 1 p.m. Junior Preston Tucker (Tampa, Fla.) was 3-for-4 with a homer and drew a bases-loaded walk with one down in the seventh that brought in senior Bryson Smith(Watkinsville, Ga.) with the winning run. Freshman Daniel Gibson (Lutz, Fla.) (1-0) earned his first collegiate win, while sophomore starter Hudson Randall (Atlanta, Ga.) permitted one run in five innings of work. Hempstead, NY – Six 2010 NCAA Tournament teams, including Miami (FL) and College World Series participant Florida State, highlight the 2011 Hofstra University Baseball schedule, which was announced today by Head Coach Patrick Anderson.

On Saturday, November 13, members of the Hofstra Baseball and Wrestling teams participated in the Shake and Rake program, sponsored by the Office of Off-Campus Living and Commuting Student Services.
Over 40 student-athletes and coaches visited 13 homes in the Hempstead and Uniondale communities to provide yard work assistance to local residents. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 1 Virginia baseball team finished off a hot day at the plate with a 13-3 victory over Wright State, Sunday afternoon, in the second game of a doubleheader at Davenport Field. In the first game, UVa pounded out 18 hits in an 11-5 win over Dartmouth.
Tyler Cannon (Sr., Pigeon Forge, Tenn.) had a big game at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBI. He had a key two-run triple to break open a one-run game in the seventh inning and then had a three-run double in the eighth inning. Cannon had eight RBI over the weekend.
