Towson, Md. – The George Mason baseball team snapped a four-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon when the Patriots scored five runs in the first three innings and then held off Towson over the final six as Mason beat the Tigers, 5-4.
Mason scored in the first when Chris Henderson and Justin Bour hit two-out singles and Scott Krieger brought home Henderson with a single to left. Towson tied the game in the bottom of the inning behind a walk and a double. Mason took the lead for good in the second behind the game’s lone error. Continue reading CAA Recap for 4/6

William and Mary 9 Delaware 4
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Senior Paul Juliano hit a grand slam in the seventh inning to help William and Mary earn a 9-4 victory against Delaware on a cold and rainy afternoon at Plumeri Park on Sunday. With the triumph, W&M claimed the series against UD and improves its record to 18-10 overall and 9-6 in conference play.
In addition to the grand slam, Juliano went 2-for-2 with five RBI. The Northfield, N.J., native also drew three walks as he reached base in all five of his trips to the plate. Senior Greg Maliniak also hit a home run, while classmate Tim Park went 3-for-5 with a run scored. Junior Jeff Jones came up big with a 2-for-4 effort and scored twice. Hempstead, NY- Justin Wood pitched a complete game, allowing only four hits and striking out six to lead James Madison past Hofstra in game two of a Colonial Athletic Association series Saturday afternoon. Trevor Knight had two RBI for the Dukes while Matt Prokopowicz contributed a single and a run scored for the Pride. Hofstra falls to 8-18 (0-11 CAA) while James Madison improves to (18-7, 11-3 CAA). ATLANTA, Ga. — Luke Murton hit his first two home runs of the season and team captain Brad Feltes added a grand slam to lead Georgia Tech to a 12-1 victory over cross-town rivals Georgia State.
Starting pitcher Deck McGuire moved to 4-0 on the season and helped the Yellow Jackets improve to 18-5 (5-4 ACC). Adam Knight took the loss for the Panthers, which fell to 14-8.
Down 5-2 to Georgia State, shortstop Derek Dietrich hit a 2-run homer as part of his 3-hit, 2-run, 3-RBI night to lead Georgia Tech to a 10-6 comeback victory over its cross-town rival. Outfielders Chris House and Jeff Rowland contributed two hits each to the Georgia Tech cause.
For the Panthers, first baseman Mitch Rider and catcher Marc Mimeault led the team with three hits each.

Old Dominion is the overwhelming favorite to capture the CAA baseball championship in 2008 according to a vote of the league’s head baseball coaches.

The UNC-Wilmington Seahawks picked up a 13-8 victory over Georgia State on Saturday. Jason Appel led the offense by going 3-6 while driving in a run and scoring one for the Seahawks.
