2014 Atlantic 10 Preseason Coaches Poll

Atlantic10_Main_LogoNEWPORT NEWS, VA – Reigning champion Saint Louis has been picked atop the 2014 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll.

SLU received 11 of the 12 first-place votes for 143 points. VCU nabbed the remaining first-place nod and a total of 122 points which was good for second-place, two points better than Rhode Island which placed third.  Richmond was slotted in fourth-place with 104 points, followed by the A-10’s newest member George Mason in fifth with 90 points.

Saint Joseph’s (81 pts.) and George Washington (68 pts.) finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively, followed by La Salle (60 pts.), Fordham (43 pts.), Dayton (40 pts.), Massachusetts (36 pts.) and St. Bonaventure (29 pts.). Continue reading 2014 Atlantic 10 Preseason Coaches Poll

George Washington releases 2014 Schedule

GeorgeWashingtonlogoWASHINGTON – The George Washington baseball team, under the direction of second-year head coach and reigning Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Gregg Ritchie, will host 29 games at Barcroft as part of a 56-game schedule in 2014.

Last season, the Colonials returned to the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time since 2006 and defeated No. 3 seed Rhode Island before being eliminated in the final four of the bracket by eventual champion and No.1 seed Saint Louis. 2013 Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll Released

George Washington releases 2013 Schedule

GeorgeWashingtonlogoWASHINGTON – The George Washington baseball team will host 28 games at fully renovated Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va., as part of its 56-game schedule in head coach Gregg Ritchie’s debut season in 2013.

The Colonials are under the direction of a new coaching staff headed by GW alumnus, Athletic Hall of Fame inductee and former Major League Baseball player and coach Gregg Ritchie. Greg Ritchie named Head Coach at George Washington

WASHINGTON – George Washington University Director of Athletics and Recreation Patrick Nero announced today that Gregg Ritchie has been hired as GW’s new head baseball coach. A George Washington alum (’86) and GW Athletic Hall of Fame member (’99), Ritchie returns to Washington from Major League Baseball’s Pittsburgh Pirates where he served as the team’s hitting coach. George Washington names Dave Lorber as Assistant Coach

WASHINGTON – Dave Lorber has been hired as Assistant Baseball Coach at George Washington University, Associate Head Coach and interim Head Coach Tom Sheridan announced today.
