The start of the College Baseball season keeps getting closer by the day. Today, we feature the Florida State Seminoles who are coming off a 50-17 campaign while going 24-6 in ACC play advancing to the College World Series. Florida State senior Stephen Spradling got injured severely while skydiving on Sunday afternoon. Florida State assistant coach Mike Martin Jr. told the Tallahassee Democrat that Spradling suffered a broken pelvis, broken hips, broken ribs and a broken bone in his back. It is expected that Spradling will be in a wheelchair for the next 2-3 months and not expected to play for the Noles this upcoming spring. Spradling appeared hit.262 in 42 at-bats for the Seminoles. He was second on the team with 12 hit-by-pitches. Continue reading
College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be counting down the players day-by-day until we reach number 1.
Number 72 on our Top 100 Countdown is Florida State’s Brandon Leibrandt. The 6’4 left-handed pitcher from Alpharetta, Georgia was a 48th-round draft pick by the Rays in 2011.
Leibrandt made quite an impact during his freshman season at Florida State when he became the first freshman in program history to start an opening game. He continued on in the rotation as the Seminoles’ Friday starter where he posted a record of 8-3 with an ERA of 2.82 in 19-games started. He held opponents to a batting average of .243 with 83 strikeouts on the season. Continue reading

We continue the countdown today at number 82 with Florida State junior shortstop Justin Gonzalez. The Miami, Florida native attended Christopher Columbus High School where he was a three year letter winner. He picked up Under Armour All-American honors in 2007 and a second team Preseason All-American infielder by Louisville Slugger in 2008. He was drafted in the 46th round by the Houston Astros in the 2009 MLB Draft but decided to continue his career at Florida State. Continue reading
