2014 ACC Preseason Coaches Poll

ACCLogoGREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia has been selected as the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball preseason favorite in a vote of the league’s 14 head coaches.

Today, we continue the countdown at number 32 with Florida State sophomore DJ Stewart. The multi-sport high school athlete at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida hit .424, driving in 29 runs while hitting nine home runs as a senior.He was very successful at winning state titles with five combined state championships in his career at Bolles (three in football and two in baseball). All Sports Photo Day 3: Luke Weaver: BaseballCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the season with our 2014 Top 100 College Baseball Players. Today, we continue the countdown at number 38 with Florida State junior Luke Weaver from Deland, Florida.  He checks in at a lanky 6’2 and 170 pounds. As a senior, he earned second team Rawlings All-America and first team All-State honors while being first team All-Area during his sophomore and junior seasons. FSU’s Jameis Winston being Looked at by MLB Squads?

JameisWinstonThe big story today is the matchup between Florida State and Auburn on the gridiron which features Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston leading the Seminoles. Winston is an accomplished baseball player in addition to his football skills as he appeared in 41 games (32 starts) with a .235 batting average while driving in nine runs. FSU Baseball Player Jameis Winston not charged in Sexual Assault Case

JameisWinstonCurrent Florida State outfielder/pitcher Jameis Winston was not charged in a sexual assault case today by the state attorney. Winston is also a member of the number 1 ranked FSU football team and is currently the favorite to win the 2013 Heisman Trophy after an outstanding season on the gridiron. Jameis Winston DNA Match; Coverup in Tallahassee?

JameisWinstonFlorida State starting QB and outfielder Jameis Winston has been involved in a reported sexual assault incident that took place in December of 2012. ESPN.com reported on Wednesday evening that the District Attorney tested a sample from the accuser’s underwear which is a match for Winston’s DNA. Florida State releases 2014 Schedule

2013 Tallahassee Super Regional: Indiana 11 FSU 6

TracySmithIndiana.jpgBLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University Baseball (48-14) is headed to the College World Series after completing a Super Regionals sweep over #7-seed Florida State (47-17). The Hoosiers topped FSU , 11-6, to become the first Big Ten school advancing to Omaha since 1984 (Michigan).

Freshman Will Coursen-Carr (5-0) earned the win on the mound, just as he did in the clinching victories of the Big Ten Tournament and NCAA Regional in his last two starts.
