Florida State baseball coach announced on Sunday that closer/outfielder Jameis Winston was reinstated on Sunday following his theft of crab legs from a local Tallahassee supermarket on the evening of April 29th. To avoid criminal charges, he had to complete 20 hours of community service. Until he completed his hours, the FSU baseball program suspended him. Florida State outfielder, right handed pitcher, and 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston was cited for shoplifting crab legs according to Tomahawk Nation, the SB Nation blog on Florida State athletics. The article posted an update that sources inside the FSU Athletic Department have stated that Winston will face a $30 fine, required to do community service, and the biggest issue is a suspension from the baseball program which lost two out of three games to Virginia over the past weekend.
The Florida State Seminoles lost two out of three games this passed weekend against the Virginia Cavaliers. They will be looking to regroup this week before welcoming Big Ten member Minnesota to Tallahassee. The major concern is the health of left-handed pitcher Bryant Holtmann. I know we have all grown tired of the “Rain Delay Danceoff’s” since the original came out a few years ago between UConn and South Florida but it isn’t everyday that we get to see the current Heisman Trophy winner involved like Saturday night between Florida State and Notre Dame. If you follow us on twitter, you saw that there was a fight between the Florida Gators and the Florida State Seminoles which saw three players ejected from the game. Florida players Zack Powers and Danny Young were ejected while Florida State’s D.J. Stewart was also tossed. Each player faces an automatic one game suspension plus any supplementary discipline if they were considered to be fighting. Florida State pitcher and 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston had to be held back by police in the incident according to several sources at the game. To put it bluntly, the Boston College Eagles were out of their element in ACC conference play in 2013. The Eagles lost their first 20 conference games before surprisingly winning a home series with Miami to get off the schnide.
