The Texas Longhorns coming off an appearance in the 2011 College World Series has released their 2011 fall schedule. They will host the Houston Cougars on visit Austin on October 16th. The Vanderbilt Commodores will then make their second straight fall appearance in Austin on October 22nd and 23rd. Vanderbilt’s Tim Corbin Recaps Texas Series
Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin caught up with VUCommodores.com to discuss how the two 12 inning fall ball games went over the weekend against Texas. Vanderbilt won the first game on Friday by a score of 7-2 before dropping Sunday’s game 7-5. Vanderbilt rallies again in ninth

TOKYO- For the second time in three days, the Vanderbilt offense rallied from behind in the ninth inning. Down to the their final strike and trailing 3-0 to Waseda, sophomore infielder Jason Esposito drilled a bases loaded triple to deep center field to tie the game at 3-3.
Aaron Westlake was hit by a pitch to start off the inning and Andrew Giobbi followed with a hard hit single to left field. Junior Curt Casali then drew a walk to load the bases. Waseda ace Yuki Saito struck out Mike Yastrzemski to bring the Commodores within one out of defeat. However, Esposito wasn’t willing to go down easy. After fouling a Saito fastball straight back, he turned on a 2-2 pitch and sent it sailing over the head of the Waseda center fielder to clear the bases.

Vanderbilt Baseball splits Doubleheader in Japan

TOKYO- Vanderbilt baseball split a doubleheader in Japan, shutting out Aoyama Gakuin 1-0 in the first game, before falling 3-2 to Meiji University on their home field.
With one out in the bottom of the second in game one, Andrew Giobbi sent a fastball deep over the left field wall to give the Commodores a 1-0 lead. The run proved to be all they would need with the stellar pitching of three VU hurlers.
Vanderbilt ties Hosei University 4-4

TOKYO- Vanderbilt and Hosei played to a 4-4 tie in a game that ended after nine innings due to darkness.
Sophomore right-hander Sonny Gray started for Vanderbilt. Gray struck out the side in the first inning, and recorded four straight strikeouts before allowing allowing a single to Hosei designated hitter Kameda. A hit batter moved Kameda to second base and a single by Ohyagi put Hosei up 1-0. An error by senior shortstop Brian Harris allowed Ohyagi to score and increase Hosei’s lead to 2-0 after two innings. Gray finished with seven strikeouts over four innings before being removed from the game.
High Point to host Fall Series starting Sunday

The High Point University baseball team will conclude the fall practice season with the 2009 Purple and Black World Series Sunday Nov. 22-Tuesday Nov. 24 at Williard Stadium.
The intrasquad series will get underway on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. The second game will be held Monday, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. and the final game of the series will be on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 3 p.m. All three contests will be played at Williard Stadium.
UCLA Fall Series Game 3 Recap

LOS ANGELES – Sophomore right-hander Trevor Bauer (2-0) struck out five batters in four scoreless frames, allowing one hit and two walks, to lead the Blue Team past the Gold Team, 5-0, in a three-game sweep of the Blue-Gold World Series at Steele Field at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Friday evening (seven innings).
Bauer faced three batters over the minimum through four innings. The native of Valencia, Calif., worked out of a one-out jam with runners in scoring position in the bottom of the fourth, recording a strikeout and inducing a groundout to finish his final fall outing. Bauer also picked up the victory for the Blue Team in Game 1 on Monday.
Cincinnati to start Fall Series Today

CINCINNATI – With its fall practices coming to an end, the University of Cincinnati baseball team will hold its annual Red/Black World Series Nov. 20-22 at Marge Schott Stadium. The series begins on Friday, Nov. 20, at 4:30 p.m., while both Saturday’s and Sunday’s match-ups begin at 1 p.m.

BATON ROUGE — Shortstop Austin Nola’s two doubles and a solid outing by left-hander Chris Matulis clinched the LSU Baseball Purple-Gold World Series title for the Gold team, as it posted a 5-3 win over the Purple Thursday at Alex Box Stadium.
The Purple-Gold World Series is a three-game intrasquad series that concludes LSU’s five-week fall practice session.

LOS ANGELES — The USC baseball team wraps up its fall practice schedule with the Cardinal/Gold World Series, Thursday-Saturday (November 19-21), at Dedeaux Field. Thursday’s game will start at 2:45 p.m. with a 1:45 p.m. start on Friday. Saturday’s start will be determined later.
USC returns 24 letterwinners from last year’s squad, including infielder/pitcher Ricky Oropesa (.314, 13 HR, 48 RBI in 2009) and right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs (5-3, 3.96 ERA, 75.0 IP, 50 SO).
