CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A three-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning erased a 4-3 deficit as the Elon Phoenix eliminated the UNC Wilmington Seahawks from the Charlotteville Regional by a 6-4 score on Sunday afternoon.
The win lifted the maroon and gold to Sunday’s regional final against sixth-ranked Virginia. Elon will need to defeat Virginia on Sunday and again on Monday to advance to the Super Regionals. Read the rest of this entry »
UNC-Wilmington 9 Army 5
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia – Corey Dick and Matt Keeler collected three hits apiece and UNCW ended the game with a triple play as the Seahawks eliminated Army with a 9-5 win on Saturday at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional at Davenport Field.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 6 overall seed Virginia opened the 2013 NCAA Baseball Championship with a 2-1 win over Army on Friday (May 31) in the Charlottesville Regional before 3,826 fans at Davenport Field.

ELON, N.C. – Elon baseball skipper Mike Kennedy has announced the 56-game schedule that awaits the Phoenix this spring. Highlighting the upcoming slate will be contests against North Carolina, NC State, Kentucky and a three-game series at Louisville. Southern Conference Tournament Day 3 Recap
Georgia Southern and Samford, both 2-0, took the day off as the remaining one-loss teams battled for the right to move on in tournament play. The way the tournament is set up, both of the 2-0 teams will have to be defeated twice on Saturday, with the winners of each separate bracket facing off in Sunday’s championship game.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 1, today. Elon junior catcher Alex Swim was named National Hitter of the Week, while Ole Miss sophomore right-hander Bobby Wahl was named National Pitcher of the Week. 2011 Season Review:
In 2010 the Southern Conference had a conference record 3 teams (Citadel, CofC and Elon) get in a regional. However, in 2011 only the tournament champion Georgia Southern (36-26 overall and 18-12 SOCON) received a NCAA bid. Regular season champion Elon (36-21 overall and 23-7 SOCON) along with CofC (39-22 overall and 18-12 SOCON), and Samford (37-23 overall and 18-12 SOCON) came up just short of a regional. UNCG who won just 7 conference games in 2010 finished just one game behind Elon in regular season at 22-8 in conference and 34-20 overall. +14 games overall and an amazing +15 in conference.
