YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University baseball team released its schedule for the 2015 campaign, Sept. 10. The Eagles will play a 53-game schedule that includes 18 contests at Oestrike Stadium. Eastern will also open up the regular season with three-game series at Arizona, Feb. 13-15, starting off a new era of EMU baseball under first year Head Coach Mark Van Ameyde.
While winter is still in full force throughout Ypsilanti, the Eagles begin the 2014 campaign with 15-straight road contests in historically warmer climates. After kicking off the season against the Wildcats, Eastern heads to the Golden State for 10 games against three California-based foes: St. Mary’s, UC Davis and Santa Clara. College Baseball Daily has learned that Eastern Michigan will hire current Michigan State assistant coach Mark Van Ameyde as head coach. Van Ameyde joined the Spartans program in June 2008 as the pitching coach and was elevated as to Associate Head Coach in 2011. Before joining the Michigan State staff, he spent a season as an assistant at Eastern Michigan. He also has coaching stops at Georgetown and Detroit-Mercy.Continue reading →
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Heather Lyke announced today, May 21, that Head Baseball Coach Jay Alexander will not be renewed for the 2015 season.
Alexander spent six seasons at the helm of Eastern Michigan’s baseball program finishing with a 159-182 overall record and a 74-88 mark in Mid-American Conference play.

Eastern Michigan Eagles (4-4) vs. Kentucky Wildcats (6-2)
Eastern Michigan started out the year on a high note by taking down then ranked #16 Clemson 6-5 before dropping the last two games of the series 5-3 and 9-7. They then went on to take two-out-three from UT-Martin in the second weekend series of the year, and they split against Austin Peay in a double-header earlier this week. FROM CBD NEWS SOURCE CLEVELAND, Ohio – 2013 Regular Season Champion Kent State was picked to repeat as MAC East Division & Tournament Champions, the Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday. Ball State, last year’s MAC Tournament runner-up was picked to win the West Division. The Flashes garnered four votes to win this year’s MAC Tournament, while Ball State garnered three votes to win the Tournament crown and NCAA automatic bid. The No. 6 ranked Bruins will travel to Waco, Texas to take on the Baylor Bears this weekend. It will be UCLA’s first visit to Baylor in program history. UCLA (2-1) is coming off a series victory against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Bruins dropped the opener 6-2 in 10 innings Friday night, but rallied on Saturday by defeating the Gophers 14-0. On Sunday, sophomore starter Grant Watson kept the Gophers quiet by throwing six scoreless innings and tallying a career high eight strikeouts.
