Conference USA has released their players of the week for the period ending on March 25th. Harrison Eldridge was named the player of the week after hitting .533 (8 for 15) in leading the East Carolina Pirates to a 4-0 record for the week. The Pitcher of the Week award went to Wes Musick of Houston pitched eight strong innings Saturday against UCF while striking out ten batters.

Bailey Daniels gave up three runs over 5.2 innings to pick up his first victory of the year as the Pirates of East Carolina knocked off Radford.

The Youngstown State took advantage of a key Marshall error in the sixth inning to score three unearned runs which led the Penguins to the 5-3 victory.

Joey Lieberman hit a double to drive in two runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk off with the victory over Illinois State 6-5.

The Green Wave got six shutout innings from Matt Goebel and Daniel Latham picked up his fifth save of the year to lead the Green Wave to the 2-0 victory over their cross-town rivals New Orleans.

The UAB Blazers struck early and often in a 15-8 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers. UAB scored 13 runs in the first three innings to roll to the victory.
UCF 12 Army 4
The UCF Golden Knights picked up a 12-4 victory over the US Milatary Academy. Eight different UCF players picked up hits in the game to keep the offensive attack rolling. UCF has now won six straight games and this broke Army’s modest win streak at three.

The Golden Eagles pitching finally faltered in a 6-2 defeat to Southeastern Louisiana. Eagle starter Todd McInnis could not recapture his one hit magic of last week by going five innings and giving up four runs.

Conference USA has released their players of the week for the period ending on March 11th. T.J. Hose of East Carolina and Todd McInnis are co-pitchers of the week. Hose set the stage for East Carolina to get a three game sweep over Cal-State Fullerton with a victory on Friday night. He went seven innings while only allowing three hits and only one run. Todd McInnis pitched into the eighth inning with a no-hitter against Alabama on March 6th. Kiki Vazquez of UCF was named the hitter of the week. He led the Golden Knights to a 5-0 record for the week. He hit .500 (7 for 14) with nine RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.000 for the week.

Conference USA is still posting previews on a team every day. Today they have previewed the Pirates of East Carolina. Head Coach Billy Goodwin is entering his second season at East Carolina. He brought them to a 33-26 record and an NCAA appearance. The full preview is available here.

Keith LeClair, the former head coach of the East Carolina Pirates lost his battle this week with ALS. He was an exceptional head coach and a model citizen for the ECU family. An excellent tribute has been posted on the East Carolina baseball site which can be viewed here.
