East Carolina releases 2014 Schedule

JeffHoffmanECUFeaturedGREENVILLE, N.C. – Thirty-two home games at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium, including the 11th-Annual Keith LeClair Classic, highlight the 2014 East Carolina baseball schedule announced Friday morning by head coach Billy Godwin.

The 2014 slate features 18 games against teams that earned a bid to the 2013 NCAA Regionals, 25 against teams with 35-plus wins and 14 that finished ranked in the national polls. Continue reading

2013 Conference USA Preseason Coaches Poll and Teams

ConferenceUSALogoConference USA announced its 2013 preseason baseball awards, as chosen by the league’s nine head coaches. Rice senior infielder Christian Stringer was chosen as the preseason Player of the Year, while Owls junior right-hander Austin Kubitza was named the preseason Pitcher of the Year. Rice was chosen to win the league’s championship. The Owls have won either the regular season or tournament championship in each of its seven years as a member of C-USA. Continue reading

Austin Morgan added to East Carolina Coaching Staff

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Austin Morgan has been named the volunteer assistant baseball coach at East Carolina University according to an announcement from head coach Billy Godwin Wednesday afternoon.

Morgan, who will work directly with the catchers and assist Ben Sanderson as a hitting instructor, was a two-year letterwinner at College of Charleston and helped the Cougars to 74 wins and a pair of Southern Conference Tournament appearances from 2008-09. Continue reading

East Carolina adds Ben Sanderson to Coaching Staff

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Former Pirate standout Ben Sanderson has been named assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, while also serving as the hitting and outfield instructor at East Carolina University according to an announcement from head baseball coach Billy Godwin Friday.

Prior to his return to ECU, Sanderson served four years as an assistant coach at Florida Atlantic University working with the Owls’ hitters and outfielders, while playing an integral role in its recruiting efforts. Continue reading
