Rodon overused; Duke defeats NC State 2-0 behind Van Orden
The top story of the night was the absolute criminal overuse of Carlos Rodon by the NC State coaching staff in the Wolfpack’s 2-0 defeat to Duke. Rodon was working on short rest and threw 134 pitches in 7.2 innings. Rodon in the game broke the NC State school record with 391 in the win. The Duke Blue Devils are on the verge of making their first appearance at the ACC tournament since 2009. The Blue Devils have an outstanding pitching staff with the trio of junior Trent Swart and sophomores Michael Matuella and James Marvel. Each of them have missed some major time this year with Marvel the latest victim missing the rest of season with Tommy John surgery.
Boston College Eagles
2013 record: 12 – 40 (4 – 25 ACC, 6th place)
Finish: No postseason
To put it bluntly, the Boston College Eagles were out of their element in ACC conference play in 2013. The Eagles lost their first 20 conference games before surprisingly winning a home series with Miami to get off the schnide.

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke baseball head coach Chris Pollard announced the Blue Devils’ 2014 schedule Tuesday as the team is set for 56 regular season games in its second season under Pollard’s guidance.
The Blue Devils face 14 opponents who totaled 30 or more wins this past season, while nearly half of Duke’s schedule consists of games against 2013 NCAA Tournament teams.

The big news started coming out yesterday with MLB announcing a 65 game suspension for Ryan Braun for his involvement in the Biogensis case that involves Anthony Bosch. The connections continue to go back to college baseball as Braun was a member of the Miami (FL) baseball team which has heavy involvement with the Biogensis clinic. The former strength and conditioning coach for the Miami baseball team Jimmy Goins is all over the documents as receiving banned substances from the clinic.
