The College Baseball Blog covered the Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star game for the third straight summer and second straight at Fenway Park. The Western Division used a strong group of pitchers to grab a 5-0 victory over the Eastern Division in front of 10,470 fans. Arizona State’s Zach Wilson was named the Western Division MVP after going 1-5 with an RBI double while Caleb Ramsey was named the Eastern Division MVP as he went 2-4 with an RBI. Tyler Ray from Troy got the win while Kentucky’s Braden Kapyten got the loss after giving up a run in the fifth inning without giving up a hit. Here are some of my thoughts on the game in no particular order.
Jordan Ribera, Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (Fresno State) 2-3, 2 runs, homer, RBI
Daniel Bowman, Bourne Braves (Coastal Carolina) 1-4, run scored, homer, 2 RBI
A.J. Pettersen, Hyannis Harbor Hawks (Minnesota) 2-4
Drew Martinez, Brewster Whitecaps (Memphis) 2-4, run scored
Jacob Stallings, Chatham Anglers (UNC) 2-4
Here is your Cape Cod Baseball League Recap for July 3rd. There was a blowout tonight at the Bourne Braves defeated Falmouth 17-3 as Tennessee’s Steven Gruver gave up 10 runs (five earned) and nine hits in only 2.1 innings. The best night at the plate was by Matt Newman from Arizona State as he went 3-4 with a double for the Orleans Firebirds. Andy Burns from Kentucky also had a solid night for Brewster as he went 2-2 with 3 RBI. There was no real outstanding performances on the mound with Andrew Gagnon from Long Beach State going seven innings, giving up five hits, and one run while striking out 8 as his Brewster Whitecaps defeated Orleans 6-2. You can check out all the top performers below.
