Top 100 Countdown: 18. Daniel Alrich (College of Charleston)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 18 with redshirt sophomore outfielder Daniel Aldrich from the College of Charleston. He went to Wando High School in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina where he player for coach Jeff Blankenship. As a senior, he hit.461 with 43 RBI while leading the state with 13 homers. He was a two-time All-State selection. 2012 NCBWA Preseason All-American Teams Announced

WICHITA, Kan. – One of the youngest groups in the decade-plus history of selections, the 12th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association preseason All-America team has a strong element of 2011 NCAA World Series returnees and loads of exceptional 2012 season sophomores and juniors.

NCBWA Names 2011 National Freshmen Players of the Year

LYNCHBURG, VA. (NCBWA) – College of Charleston outfielder Daniel Aldrich and Texas right-handed pitcher Corey Knebel have been named the 2011 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman Hitter and Pitcher of the Year recipients, as announced by the organization today.

Aldrich hit .347 and led all Division I freshmen in home runs (22), RBI (73), slugging percentage (.739) and total bases (164). The outfielder was selected the 2011 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year and named to All-SoCon first team. USA Baseball Announces 30 Semifinalists for 2011 Golden Spikes Award
