USA Baseball defeats Fayetteville 11-3

USABASEBALL_thumb.jpgFAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A 17-hit night helped the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team stay perfect on the tour with an 11-3 win over Fayetteville Monday night. LSU’s Alex Bregman notched three hits in his tour debut and Indiana’s Kyle Schwarber had three RBIs.

“I thought tonight was a positive in some ways and in other ways I thought we have a long ways to go,” remarked manager Jim Schlossnagle. “It was exciting to see the guys who literally just got off the plane, Alex Bregman, Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber and Sam Travis, step out there and do a great job for us.” Continue reading USA Baseball defeats Fayetteville 11-3

USA Baseball defeats Morehead City 10-2

USABASEBALL.jpgMOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team exploded for a 10-2 victory over the Morehead City Marlins Sunday night. Four team members collected a pair of hits in the game, while Kentucky’s A.J. Reed paced the team with a pair of RBIs.

“I thought tonight was a really good win for us,” said manager Jim Schlossnagle (TCU). “Obviously, we swung the bats really well. They gave us a lot of free base runners, but there were a lot of quality at-bats throughout the game. We played a much crisper game defensively and I was really pleased with the way Tyler, Cole and Colin pitched. We looked much more like the Team USA that I want us to be in terms of how hard we played, our energy between innings and throwing the ball around the infield. Team USA defeats Morehead City 6-1

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – Carlos Rodon (NC State) struck out seven in four innings and combined with four other pitchers on a three-hitter as the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team beat the Morehead City Marlins, 6-1, with 2,117 fans on hand at Puck O’Neill Field at Big Rock Stadium on a picture-perfect Wednesday evening. USA Collegiate Team defeats Wilmington Sharks 7-4

FROM USA BASEBALL RELEASEWILMINGTON, N.C. — Kris Bryant (San Diego) hit a two-run home run in the first inning and five pitchers combined to strike out 12 as the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team cruised to a 7-4 win over the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League in front of 2,733 on Tuesday night at Buck Hardee Field. College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 18 with redshirt sophomore outfielder Daniel Aldrich from the College of Charleston. He went to Wando High School in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina where he player for coach Jeff Blankenship. As a senior, he hit.461 with 43 RBI while leading the state with 13 homers. He was a two-time All-State selection. Top 100 Countdown: 40. Chase McDonald (East Carolina)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 40 with East Carolina first baseman Chase McDonald. The 6’4 250 pound first baseman hails from Greenville, North Carolina and attended J.H. Rose High School. He was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Ronald Vincent. His senior season saw him hit 12 home runs and batting .510 for the Rampants on his way to team MVP and All-State honors. Top 100 Countdown: 49. Chris Overman (NC State)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 49 with NC State junior RHP Chris Overman. The Charlotte, North Carolina native attended Myers Park High School. As a senior, he was named to The Charlotte Observer’s All-Mecklenburg team. He also brough the team to a Myers Park to a 19-9 record and the Southwestern 4-A Conference tournament championship, pitching a complete game in the tournament championship game. Top 100 Countdown: 97. Brian Holmes (Wake Forest)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today with number 97 junior Wake Forest LHP Brian Holmes. He is from Lawrenceville, Georgia and was a two year letterwinner at Mill Creek High School.
