CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina baseball team started its 2011 fall World Series Friday afternoon with the Bronze squad edging the Black squad 4-2, following a one-and-a-half hour session of showing their skills to at least 25 Major League Baseball scouts at Watson Stadium. HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team competed against the Rice Owls Tuesday night in a 14-inning scrimmage at Cougar Field.

CAPE COD, Mass. – Commissioner Paul Galop has announced the 2011 Cape Cod Baseball League All-League Team.
Heading the list of positional players is CCBL Most Valuable Player Travis Jankowski (Stony Brook) of Bourne, who hit .329 with 22 RBIs for the Bourne Braves, along with batting champion Stephen Piscotty (Stanford) of Yarmouth-Dennis, who hit .349, edging out fellow All-League catcher Dane Phillips (Oklahoma State) of Chatham by a mere .0002. Since the Cape Cod Baseball League announced their 2011 All-Star Game rosters on Friday, lets take a look at what conferences and college programs have had the most success this summer. The leading conference this year is the Pac-10 conference which features eight players from seven different school. Coming in second place is the SEC which has six players from four different schools. Interesting enough, the ACC and Big East conference both have four players in the game this year which speaks to how strong the the Big East over the last couple of seasons. It is finally opening weekend for the Big 12 Conference. Eight of the league’s ten teams are participating in conference series, with Missouri and Nebraska playing series against non-conference foes.
The conference matchup of the weekend is between #3 Oklahoma and #12 Texas A&M in Norman. Oklahoma was the winner of 16 straight games before hitting a three-game skid against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Arizona. Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Tournament Champion Kent State and defending MAC Regular Season Champion Central Michigan have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. The CBB continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the countdown today at number 90 with Central Michigan pitcher Dietrich Enns. He is from Frankfort Illinois and attended Lincoln Way East High School. He had an outstanding junior season going 7-3 with an ERA of 1.30 as he earned all-conference and all-area honors. He was even better as a sophomore with a 12-0 record with a 1.10 ERA.
