Former CMU Chippewa Jake Sabol rises in Coaching Ranks

Whether they grow up playing hardball, stickball or whiffle ball, kids cling to the same fantasy: they’re standing in the backyard or the schoolyard, and they envision themselves in the jersey of their favorite team.

2014 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

macCLEVELAND, Ohio – 2013 Regular Season Champion Kent State was picked to repeat as MAC East Division & Tournament Champions, the Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday. Ball State, last year’s MAC Tournament runner-up was picked to win the West Division. The Flashes garnered four votes to win this year’s MAC Tournament, while Ball State garnered three votes to win the Tournament crown and NCAA automatic bid. Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Miami and Toledo each received one vote to win the Tournament. The preseason poll was voted on by the league’s 12 Head Coaches. Continue reading

Central Michigan releases 2014 Schedule

JordanDeanCMUMount Pleasant, Mich. – The Central Michigan baseball program announced its 2014 schedule Thursday, one that features 19 home games, five home Mid-American Conference series and the fourth annual Clash at Comerica versus in-state foe Michigan State.

“Anytime you can have five home MAC series is a benefit to our program,” head coach Steve Jaksa said. “We love playing at home. Its an environment that we like and our fans enjoy as well. We really like our schedule and how it is set up from start to finish.” Continue reading


Central Michigan releases 2013 Schedule

MOUNT PLEASANT – The Central Michigan baseball program released its 2013 schedule Wednesday afternoon, one that features 17 games at Theunissen Stadium.

Highlighting the 17 home contests will be a non-conference tilt versus Notre Dame (Apr. 30) as well the series finale of a three-game set versus in-state rival Michigan State (May 14). Continue reading


NCBWA releases National Players of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its National Player of the Week awards for the period ending February 19, today. Central Michigan senior catcher William Arnold was named National Hitter of the Week, while Duke sophomore right-hander Robert Huber was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. Continue reading


2012 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll Released

Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Kent State and defending MAC West Division Champion Central Michigan have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. The Golden Flashes were also selected by seven of the leagues head coaches to take home the 2012 MAC Tournament title. Continue reading


Top 100 Countdown: 53. Dietrich Enns (Central Michigan)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 53 with Central Michigan junior LHP Dietrich Enns. The Frankfort, Illinois native attended Lincoln Way East High School. He had an outstanding junior season going 7-3 with an ERA of 1.30 as he earned all-conference and all-area honors. He was even better as a sophomore with a 12-0 record with a 1.10 ERA.
