The New York Times recently took a look at all the top athletic programs in the country looking in depth at the athletic program at the University of Florida. They have seen a major boost to athletic funding over the last couple of years including building a 15 million dollar women’s lacrosse facility that hadn’t played a game yet. Foley is the same guy that fired current Arizona head coach Andy who averaged 40 victories a season over seven seasons, winning two Southeastern Conference championships and appearing in five N.C.A.A. tournaments and two College World Series. He also fired Pat McMahon after going 202-113-1 in six seasons including an appearance in the 2005 CWS Championship Series.
In the first game of the second day of the Norwich Regional. The UConn Huskies faced off against the Central Connecticut Blue Devils. UConn entered the game with a 47-15 record while Central Connecticut State enters with a 33-22 record. Uconn sent Elliot Glynn to the hill as he was 7-3 with a 2.66 ERA while Central Connecticut State countered with Jason Foster who was 3-2 with a 5.91 ERA.
The Florida State Seminoles and Central Connecticut State faced off in the first game of the Norwich Regional. The Seminoles entered with a 42-17 overall record while Central Connecticut State had a 33-21 record. Florida State sent Brian Busch to the hill who entered with a 4-1 record while having an ERA of 4.55. CCSU countered with Dave Krasnowiecki who 7-2 with a 3.41 ERA.
The UConn Huskies are hosting an NCAA Regional this season as they are the number 2 seeded team. Florida State out of the ACC are the number 1 seed with Oregon as the three seed and Central Connecticut State as the four seed.
Somerset, NJ – Wagner won a plurality of first-place votes to finish atop the 2010 Northeast Conference Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll. The league office released the results of the annual survey as a prelude to its 24th season on the diamond.
Flying high following the program’s first ever regular season conference crown last spring, the Seahawks received four top nods to finish one spot in front of defending NEC Tournament champion Monmouth and its two first-place votes.
Somerset, NJ — Monmouth won five first-place votes to find itself in its familiar position atop the Northeast Conference baseball preseason poll. The Hawks have earned the moniker of NEC preseason favorite in three of the past four years. Central Connecticut State collected two first-place nods to finish second in the vote by the conference’s eight head coaches followed by Wagner which garnered the remaining first-place vote in third. We recently saw the Big East and Big Ten set up an interconference matchups of games in Florida but we recently found out the America East and the Northeast conference will be playing a similar tournament from March 27th-29th. The three teams from the America East conference will visit the Northeast conference members over the three days where they will play single games on Friday and Sunday with a doubleheader on Saturday.
