Centenary Baseball Visits Shriners Hospital

Centenary set to move to Division 3
The Centenary College Board of Trustees voted on Wednesday to reclassify their entire athletic department from Division 1 down to Division 3. They have been fielding athletic teams since 1894 and have been members of Division 1 since the NCAA started classifying teams. The main reason for this move of course is finances as many schools across the country are trying to cut back on costs as the economic crisis continues.
East Texas Pump Jacks Tap Pelican State For Award-Winning Infielder, Two Pitchers

The East Texas Pump Jacks today announced the signing of members of the Louisiana-Lafayette baseball team, as well as a pitcher from Centenary College.
Joining the Pump Jacks are infielder Greg Fontenot and pitcher Patrick Holloway, both Ragin’ Cajuns. Also coming to East Texas is Centenary sophomore Stephen Tromblee.

UT-Arlington and Centenary facing Postseason Bans?
Aaron Fitt of Baseball America has an excellent article about how UT-Arlington and Centenary are facing Postseason bans for low APR scores. The NCAA has threaten these two schools to get their academics under control and if they don’t then the baseball programs at both schools will be banned from postseason play. Oral Roberts’ baseball team scored a season-high 12 runs en route to defeat No. 9 Baylor, 12-2, sweeping the Bears in the two-game mid-week series, Wednesday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
Texas A&M 3 Centenary 2
Texas A&M rallied to take the lead with a three-run sixth, and the pitching staff allowed Centenary two hits the rest of the way, as the 22nd-ranked Aggies defeated the Gents 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon to sweep the series before 2,778 fans at Olsen Field.
Oral Roberts tabbed Favorite in Summit League

ELMHURST, Ill. – After winning its record 10th straight league championship a year ago, Oral Roberts was selected to claim its 11th consecutive Summit League title in 2008 as voted on by the league’s eight head coaches. Centenary College releases 2007 Schedule

The Centenary College Baseball program has released their 2007 Baseball schedule. There are some highlights for them. They will host both LSU and Arkansas this season plus they play their Mid-Continent conference schedule like usual.
