Pac-10 Weekend Preview (April 1st-3rd)

#26 Oregon at #5 Arizona State

Oregon has turned their season around, minus a couple one run losses in a 4-game set with Wichita State last weekend.  The overall sense of worry on the Duck program has dissipated after they reeled off eight straight wins, but have their first real test in a while as they fly to Tempe to take on Arizona State.   Continue reading Pac-10 Weekend Preview (April 1st-3rd)

ACC Weekend Preview (April 1st-3rd)

The fourth weekend of action kicks off today in the ACC with the Florida State Seminoles leading the Atlantic Division and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets leading the Coastal. The Seminoles enter the weekend with a 6-3 record while both Clemson and Boston College are tied for second with identical 4-5 records. NC State and Wake Forest are tied for fourth place with 3-6 marks while Maryland rounds out the division at 1-8. The Yellow Jackets lead the Coastal Division with a perfect 9-0 record with Virginia in second place with a 8-1 mark. North Carolina is third at 7-2 and Miami is fourth at 6-3. SEC Weekend Preview (April 1st-3rd)

The SEC enters the third weekend of play with Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Florida tied for first place in the Eastern Division with 4-2 records. Vanderbilt took two out of three games in each of their SEC weekends with Arkansas and Mississippi State. South Carolina also took two out of three from Georgia and Florida. The Gators swept the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge on the opening weekend before losing two out of three to South Carolina. Georgia is in fourth place with a 3-3 record, while Tennessee and Kentucky round out the division in a tie for fifth place with a 2-4 record. Continue reading SEC Weekend Preview (April 1st-3rd)

SEC Weekend Preview (March 25th-27th)

The SEC enters their second weekend of conference play with the Florida Gators leading the SEC Eastern Division with a perfect 3-0 record. Kentucky, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt are all tied for second with 2-1 records while Georgia and Tennessee are tied for fifth place with 1-2 marks. The Western Division is led by the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers who have identical 2-1 records. Arkansas, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are tied for third place with 1-2 records while the LSU Tigers round out the division without recording a win in their first three games. The Clemson Tigers are in second with a 3-3 mark while Boston College and Wake Forest are tied for third at 2-4. Maryland and NC State are in a tie for last place at 1-5. The Coastal Division is led by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Miami Hurricanes who have a perfect 6-0 record through the first two weekend of play. Virginia is in third place with a 5-1 conference mark while North Carolina is fourth at 4-2. Rounding out the division is Duke at 2-4 and Virginia Tech at 0-6. SEC Weekend Preview (March 18th-20th)

The SEC opens up conference play this weekend with four schools ranked in the top seven in the country led by number 1 ranked Vanderbilt. The biggest series of the weekend features the number 2 ranked Florida Gators visiting number 7 ranked LSU. The other weekend matchups sees Georgia going to number six ranked South Carolina, eleventh ranked Arkansas visiting 26th ranked Auburn, Alabama going to Ole Miss, and Tennessee visiting the Kentucky Wildcats.  Continue reading SEC Weekend Preview (March 18th-20th)

ACC Weekend Preview for March 18th-20th

The ACC enters their second weekend of conference play with the Florida State Seminoles leading the Atlantic Division with a 3-0 record after sweeping Boston College. Wake Forest is second in the division with a 2-1 record while NC State is third at 1-2. Maryland, Clemson, and Boston College all were swept last weekend as they are tied for fourth place in the division.

Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Miami (FL) are in a three way tie for first place in the Coastal Division with a 3-0 record after they each swept their series on the opening weekend. Foley’s National Weekend Preview (March 4th-6th)

We enter the third weekend of action in College Baseball today with a couple of good tournaments and series around the country. Sr. Writer William Knox will be in Austin TX this weekend covering the Stanford vs Texas series while Assistant Editor Mark Rafferty is flying down to San Diego to cover the University of San Diego tournament. Both Sr. Writer Katherine Cornetta and Editor Brian Foley will be in the CBD East Coast office running the twitter and answering questions on twitter. West Coast Weekend Preview…Let it Snow?

The Bay Area is scheduled for some nasty weather this weekend, and there’s even snow possibly in the forecast in San Francisco for the first time since the 1970’s.  The USF Dons (0-4) look to turn around its season after a rough opening stretch against UCLA as they play UC Davis in a home/away/home series this weekend.  Weather will probably get in the way Friday with a double dip sometime either Saturday or Sunday.  I spoke with USF Head Coach Nino Giarratano this week about his teams efforts to rebound over the weekend.
