A number of schools on the quarter system rather than the semester schedule are coming off two week breaks. Several of those teams will oppose Southern California squads this weekend.
But the biggest matchup pits a top 10 Texas A&M squad against a red hot Pepperdine team. There will be a handful of “aces” in this series with both teams possessing top notch weekend rotations.

The ACC opens up conference play with only one series featuring ranked squads with #6 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels heading north to play the 17th ranked Clemson Tigers. The other weekend series see the #8 ranked Florida State Seminoles heading to Duke, #9 ranked Georgia Tech heading to NC State, Boston College visiting #14 ranked Miami (FL), Virginia Tech going to #27 Virginia, and #30 ranked Maryland visiting Wake Forest. Two of the nation’s top matchups this weekend will feature Southern California teams on the road. No. 16 UCLA has its first road test as they travel to No. 9 Georgia and No. 19 Cal State Fullerton tries to bounce back from a Tuesday loss to USC with a strong series at No. 6 Texas A&M.
Two other schools, San Diego and Loyola Marymount head on the road to play a pair of traditional powers that have struggled early this season.

Ten of the 11 Southern California squads will play host this weekend as several teams try to rebound from average to sub-par opening weeks.
Things have been upside down in the first week as the only undefeated is USC — a team that hasn’t made the NCAA Tournament since 2005. The two squads ranked preseason, UCLA and Fullerton, both lost their opening weekend series.
Boasting a program best 41 wins this season, Stony Brook will look to defend their America East Baseball Championship as play in the conference tournament begins late Wednesday morning.
The tournament will open with match ups that look quite familiar to the teams involved, as they are all rematches of last weekends season ending series. Regular season champion Stony Brook (41-10 overall, 22-2 America East) will face fourth seeded Albany (19-29, 11-11) at 3pm. The Seawolves swept the Great Danes in their four game series this past weekend, amassing 29 runs and holding Albany to a mere eight. America East Pitcher of the Year Nick Tropeano carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning in the series’ first game, and has a program record 11 wins this season. We enter the last weekend of action in SEC play as we see a three team tie in the top of the SEC Eastern Division while all six teams in the SEC Western Division are within two games of the division lead. The Eastern Division tie sees Florida, South Carolina and Vanderbilt all tied with 20-7 conference records with South Carolina winning two out of three games against Florida and Vanderbilt. Florida defeated Vanderbilt this past weekend in two out of three games. The Western Division sees a four way tie at the top of the division at 13-14 between Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi State, and Auburn. Ole Miss is only one game behind that tie at 12-15 while LSU rounds out the division with a 11-16 record. Continue reading
The SEC enters their second to last weekend of conference play with all four ranked squads facing off against each other. The marquee series is between #6 ranked Florida and #1 ranked Vanderbilt. The other ranked series sees #16 ranked Arkansas visiting #3 South Carolina. The Thursday-Saturday series this week features Ole Miss hosting Mississippi State. The Bulldogs took a tight 7-6 game on Thursday night to start the series off with a key win. The other matchups see Alabama visiting Auburn, Georgia at Kentucky, and Tennessee at LSU. The SEC enters crunch time in the conference race this week with each team having three conference series left on the year. Leading the SEC East is South Carolina and Vanderbilt with identical 17-4 records. Florida is one game behind them at 17-5 after a 4-3 defeat to Arkansas in the SEC Thursday Night Game of the Week. Georgia would be leading the SEC West but they are in the Eastern Division so they are in fourth place at 13-8. Rounding out the Eastern Division is Tennessee at 5-16 while Kentucky is 4-17.
