Top 100 Countdown: 17. Taylor Dugas (Alabama)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 17 with Alabama senior Taylor Dugas, The Lafayette, Louisiana, native attended Teurlings Catholic High School where he was a four year starter for head coach Mike Thibodeaux. In his high school career, he batted .518 (176 for 340) with 19 home runs and 159 RBI. His senior season saw him hit .640 (57 for 86) with 10 home runs, 38 RBI, 55 runs, 17 doubles and four triples while being named a Collegiate Baseball High School All-American, LBCA Player of the Year, first-team All-State by the LBCA, and won the Rebel of the Year Award at TCHS. Top 100 Countdown: 18. Daniel Alrich (College of Charleston)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 18 with redshirt sophomore outfielder Daniel Aldrich from the College of Charleston. He went to Wando High School in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina where he player for coach Jeff Blankenship. As a senior, he hit.461 with 43 RBI while leading the state with 13 homers. He was a two-time All-State selection. Top 100 Countdown: 19. Barrett Barnes (Texas Tech)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 19 with Texas Tech junior outfielder Barrett Barnes. He is a 2009 graduate of Class 5A Fort Bend High School in Austin, Texas where earned varsity letters in baseball and was coached by Randy Ursery and Kenneth Sharp. Top 100 Countdown: 20. Buck Farmer (Georgia Tech)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 20 with Georgia Tech junior RHP Buck Farmer. The Conyers, Georgia native attended Rockdale High School where he was a four year letterwinner and a three time captain under coach Casey Martin. He was named All-State, All-District and All-Area all four years of high school (2006-2009) while posting an ERA of 2.02 as a senior and 1.50 as a junior. He broke the school record for strikeouts in a game in 2008 when he struck out 22 against Dacula High School. Top 100 Countdown: 21. Austin Maddox (Florida)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 21 with Florida junior RHP/infielder Austin Maddox. The Jacksonville Florida native attended Eagle’s View Academy where in his four-year high school career, Maddox led the Warriors to a 19-2 playoff record, a pair of state championships and four final fours. He was picked  by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 37th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft with the 1,129th pick but decided to head to Gainesville to play for the Gators.  Continue reading Top 100 Countdown: 21. Top 100 Countdown: 22. Branden Kline (Virginia)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 22 with Virginia junior RHP Branden Kline. The Frederick, Maryland native attended Governor Thomas Johnson High School. As a senior, he had 0.51 ERA in 41 innings while striking out 79 while walking 12. He picked up several honors including being named First-Team All-State, All-Metro, Monocacy Valley Athletics Conference Pitcher of the Year and Frederick County Player of the Year. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox but decided to head to Virginia to continue his baseball career. Continue reading Top 100 Countdown: 22. Top 100 Countdown: 23. Kevin Plawecki (Purdue)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 23 with Purdue junior catch Kevin Plawecki. The Carmel, Indiana native attended Westfield High School where he was a four year letter winner. Rutgers Steve Nyisztor leaves Baseball Program

Update on Jan. 29th: Steve has transferred to Louisburg JC in North Carolina according to Aaron Fitt of Baseball America.

College Baseball Daily has learned that Rutgers infielder Steve Nyisztor has been declared academically ineligible and has left the university.

Rutgers athletic department spokesperson James Gill released the following statement about Steve Nyisztor’s status

Top 100 Countdown: 24. Chris Beck (Georgia Southern)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 24 with Georgia Southern junior RHP Chris Beck. The 6’3 220 pounder out of Jefferson Georgia attended Jefferson High School where he was a four year letter winner. He earned First Team All-Region honors in every year and was twice was named Pitcher of the Year’ in 2008 and 2009. College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 25 with Arkansas junior RHP DJ Baxendale. The Jacksonville, Arkansas native attended Sylvan Hills High School where he went 25-1 as a junior and senior while being named State of Arkansas Gatorade Player fo the Year, Arkansas Player of the Year by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Louisville Slugger and MaxPreps following senior season.
