He was a three sport athlete in high school playing basketball, football, and baseball. He excelled in baseball as he was named first team all-district in three consecutive seasons as a pitcher and infielder. Perfect Game rated him as one of the top players in the Southeast region which saw him get selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 36th round. He declined to sign with the Reds and headed to LSU.

He is from Seaford Virginia and attended York High School where he lettered in baseball for all four years and picked up a letter in basketball. He was named All-State in Virginia as a junior and senior. In his junior season, he hit .508 with a 4-2 record and a 1.60 ERA on the mound.

He was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 24th round in the 2007 MLB Draft but decided to become a member of the Auburn Tiger baseball squad.

We continue the list today with number 98 in our countdown with Tulane sophomore catcher Jeremy Schaffer. He is from Bellaire Texas where he attended Bellaire High School. He was a four year letter winner in high school where he hit .404 with eight homers and 40 RBI in his senior campaign.
We continue the list today with number 99 in our countdown with junior outfielder Matt Newman from Arizona State who stands at 5’11 175 pounds. He comes from Brophy Prep School and Glendale Arizona. After earning his two letters with Brophy, he was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 49th round (1419th overall) of the 2007 MLB Draft. He couldn’t come to an agreement with the Diamondbacks which saw him continue his career at Arizona State.
