College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
Checking in at number 78 is Kent State junior RHP Tyler Skulina. The 6’6 235 pound righty hails from Strongsville, Ohio and attended Walsh Jesuit High School. He went a perfect 26-0 in his high school career while being named a first team All-American in 2009 and honorable mention in 2010. He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 46th round but decided to head to the University of Virginia. Continue reading

College Baseball Daily was able to catch up with Ole Miss senior outfielder Tanner Mathis after the 2012 Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game. Mathis went 1-4 in the game with a single off of Indiana State’s Sean Manaea. For the summer, he is hitting .316 with eight RBI while stealing nine bases. He was selected in the 27th round of the 2012 MLB Draft but decided to not sign and is playing this summer with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. You can check out the full video interview below. Beyond the Box Score, a SB Nation blog, has broken down the CCBL All-Stars using Sabermetrics. Glenn DuPaul was able to calculate weighted on base average and OPS+ but was not able to calculate in park adjustments. Despite threatening clouds and wind, the crowds turned out in droves for the Cape Cod Baseball League’s 2012 All-Star Game on Saturday, July 28, with a packed house of 3,812 fans at Whitehouse Field in Harwich. The East and West ended the game in a 1-1 draw, with Robert Pehl (Washington, YD) singling in Alex Blandino (Stanford, YD) in the ninth inning with two outs. Continue reading
