Top 100 Countdown: 69. Dylan Covey (San Diego)

DylanCoveySmallCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be counting down the players day-by-day until we reach number 1.

Number 69 in our countdown is San Diego junior RHP Dylan Covey from Pasadena, California attending Maranatha High School. He was a beast in high school posting a 0.40 ERA with 138 strikeouts in 70.2 innings of work. He struck out 14 batters in two separate games while striking out double digit batters on nine different occasions. He was named an AFLAC All-American, the 2010 Gatorade State Player of the Year in California and was a Baseball America first-team All-American. The Milwaukee Brewers picked him with the 14th overall selection in the 2010 MLB Draft but he decided to head to San Diego as it was discovered during his physical that he was suffering from diabetes.

Top 100 Countdown: 77. Michael O’Neill (Michigan)

MichaelONeillCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

Top 100 Countdown: 78. Tyler Skulina (Kent State)

TylerSkylinaKentStateCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

Checking in at number 78 is Kent State junior RHP Tyler Skulina. The 6’6 235 pound righty hails from Strongsville, Ohio and attended Walsh Jesuit High School. He went a perfect 26-0 in his high school career while being named a first team All-American in 2009 and honorable mention in 2010. CBD Interview with Ole Miss Tanner Mathis

College Baseball Daily was able to catch up with Ole Miss senior outfielder Tanner Mathis after the 2012 Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game. Mathis went 1-4 in the game with a single off of Indiana State’s Sean Manaea. For the summer, he is hitting .316 with eight RBI while stealing nine bases. He was selected in the 27th round of the 2012 MLB Draft but decided to not sign and is playing this summer with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. You can check out the full video interview below.
