2014 Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game Rosters Announced

WEST YARMOUTH, Mass. – On Saturday morning, the Cape Cod Baseball League held its annual selection for the Friendly’s CCBL All-Star game. The midsummer classic is being held at Doran Park, home of the Bourne Braves, on Sunday, July 27. With just eight days until the big event, the managers for each of the league’s 10 teams met and joined together by division to choose who has earned the right to represent the East and West in 2014. WetzlerOregonStateCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!

Number 17 on our countdown is Oregon State senior Ben Wentzler from Clackamas, Oregon where he attended Clackamas High School. He had a career high school record of 28-3 with five saves, 342 strikeouts, 53 walks, 25 earned runs and a 0.87 ERA in 201 1/3 innings pitched. He went 12-0 his senior year, finishing with four saves and a 0.32 ERA. He was named the Gatorade Player of the Year and selected as the Louisville Slugger Player of the Year, was an All-American and participated in the Oregon 6A-5A All-Star series. Continue reading

Number 18 on our countdown is San Francisco junior outfielder Bradley Zimmer. The La Jolla, California native attended La Jolla High School. He was a three year varsity starter as he led the squad in many categories including average (.446), home runs, RBI, stolen bases, on-base percentage. Continue reading

Number 21 on our countdown is UCLA sophomore RHP James Kaprielian (UCLA). He was a three-year varsity baseball letterwinner at Beckman High School (Irvine, Calif.) under head coach Kevin Lavelle where he posted a career record of 33-3 with a 0.96 ERA, 250 strikeouts and 23 complete games. In his senior campaign, he went 12-2 with a 0.84 ERA, striking out 112 batters in 83.1 innings pitched and recording 10 saves. He was selected in the 40th round of the 2012 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners. Continue reading

Number 25 on our countdown is Cal State Fullerton junior first baseman and RHP JD Davis. The Elk Grove High School native was a four-year letter winner at Elk Grove High School. He was a two time All-American selection in his junior and senior year with outstanding campaigns which he hit .486 batting average with 8 homers, 60 RBI, 1.80 ERA, 91 strikeouts as a junior and a .505 batting average, 9 homers, 45 RBI, 1.56 ERA, 70 strikeouts. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB Draft. Continue reading
