2013 WAC Preseason Coaches Poll

DENVER - Dallas Baptist has been selected as the favorite to win the 2013 Western Athletic Conference regular season baseball crown in a vote by the league’s 10 head coaches.

The Patriots received 80 points and eight first place votes after a 41-19 season last year as an independent. DBU advanced to its second-straight NCAA Tournament last season. DBU joins the WAC this season after playing as a Division I independent the past nine seasons. As an independent, the Patriots have made three trips to the NCAA tournament, including an NCAA Super Regional appearance in 2011. Read the rest of this entry »

Kansas 3 Bowling Green 1 (Game 1)

Kansas took the lead in the seventh on a two-run single from LF Tucker Tharp.
SS Kevin Kuntz led the Jayhawks with two hits. Kansas had six hits total.
Freshman LHP Wes Benjamin picked up the win in his first career start, going seven innings and allowing only one run on five hits. Benjamin walked one and struck out three.

WAC officially adds CSU Bakersfield and Dallas Baptist for Baseball

CBD Exclusive: Cal State Bakersfield and Dallas Baptist Accept WAC Invitation

College Baseball Daily has confirmed that current independents Cal State-Bakersfield and Dallas Baptist have accepted the Western Athletic Conference’s membership invitation as associate members in baseball. The Roadrunners and Patriots will join the league in beginning in the 2012-2013 academic year and will begin play in the league in the 2013 season. NCBWA Names Pro-Line Athletic National Players of the Week (May 24th)

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending May 22 today. UT San Antonio senior first baseman Ryan Hutson and Louisville junior second baseman Ryan Wright were named National Co-Hitters of the Week, while Cal State Bakersfield senior right-hander Mike McCarthy was named National Pitcher of the Week.
